How long does it take to fully recover from smoking?

Say someone has been smoking for about 5-6 years and quit now. How long would it take for them to fully recover? If they ever fully recover that is? And is there a chance of that person ever running a marathon? lol

If you mean with recover from smoking, that your lungs are clean again, that can take between 10-15 years after quit smoking

it only takes a few weeks for your lungs to clear out,

oh and if they itch too badly, reach down your throat with a coat hanger

It aint funny, I told a doctor and he said BS, it was in my mids becasue the lungs dont have nerves that feel, but Im tellin ya they itch.
the First time I quit my lungs were cleared out in 5 to 6 weeks, and I mean mucus not totally recovered. This time after smoking for only one year, it has been 4 months of hell with my lungs clearing.

Just me and my

Ohhh... and the coat hanger was already thought of, so was a wire brush. Doc says its all in my mind, I tell em it is mind over matter, if you dont have a mind it dont matter.

There is no complete recovery for a long term smokers body. Its basically fucked.

Every cigarette releases something like 4 Quadrillion free radicals into the body.

I smoked for 13 years and stopped a month ago. To be honest after the initial two days of nightmare it's been fine.

And don't ever say you want to go and stop other people smoking - I smoked for a long time and I know why they do it. Yes it's stupid, but it's not for anyone else to go and tell them off for it, or tell them whats right and wrong. They know its no good for them. Every smoker does.

I live in England, and what i find wonderfully ironic about America the few times I have been is that in a huge amount of places you can't smoke, and yet the pollution hangs thick in the air because of the amount of big truck/jeep things Americans drive. American cars are in general so much larger than english cars, with bigger engines, consuming more fuel (which is also cheaper than in the uk), and thus pumping out more junk.

Don't worry about the kids smoking, try not filling their lungs with pollutants from your SUVs.

true enough sad to say that lot of teens doesnt know what is waiting for them on getting hook in smoking, my dad actually died due to cancer of the lungs, and yeah the main reason is because of those nocotines that stucked in his lungs
