"A developer in Tokyo has created an add-on for Vodafone handsets that's meant to be used as a night filter to let people take pictures with their phones in the dark. Unfortunately, the night vision camera has an unexpected side effect... As well as taking snaps in the dark, the Yamada Denshi infrared filter apparently sees through people's clothes. When attached to a high-end camera, the device can give the effect of seeing through some garments ? it depends on how easily infrared can penetrate the fabric in question ? and is reportedly particularly effective on dark bikinis. The handset most often used with the filter?the V602-SH ?is available only in Japan." ?News.com (US)

Before you all rush out and buy imported Japanese phones, it should be mentioned that this is not the first time that infrared attachments have been claimed to give "x-ray vision." (And you have to put that in quotes because infrared light obviously occupies a different part of the electromagnetic spectrum than x-rays.) Anyway, there are some Sony cameras whose Nightshot technology does the same see-through-the-clothes trick. You can find some pictures floating around the web that show how well the technology does (or doesn't) work. It's not really that great ? but then again, if you can get off to crappy up-skirt photos taken with camera phones, perhaps you can get off to crappy through-skirt photos taken with "x-ray" phones too.

I use the Hoya 70 filter on the Sony and it works amazing in bright sun light !

I have one of the Sony's that does this, It's a TR72, had it for like 5 years or so. This one was bought before the see-through issue was discovered. No it's not for sale...lol
