I wonder about the mindset of the Women who work behind the scenes in this industry.

If I were a woman that was not in the content side of things, I would NOT want to work in adult behind the scenes considering the wide brush that woman are painted with in this male dominated industry...Lets face it, the general consensus in our industry and the image we want to portray to the surfer is that all women are ho's and should be fucked and used for the allmigthy dollar.

Spend a few minutes at a convention or any webmaster board and you will see the majority view of women is fairly negative. Listening to some people in the industry refer to the female population and you would get the idea that the only thing a girl is good for is to fuck and walk around naked.

I am somewhat bothered by this, but I won't go around pretending I am somehow superior...afterall I make money from this same industry, so who am I to judge.

I wonder about the mindset of a woman that works behind the scenes in this industry in areas like webmaster support and such. No I am not judging, just curious.

So witout me telling you how you should think, I wonder if some of the women here could give us a glimpse into why they are in this industry, since they could probably hold the same position at a mainstream company witout being exposed to the uber male testosterone that is the adult industry.

I have more respect for some of the behind the scenes women than I do men. Not sure I agree with you. Though thats just me.

sorry, i disagree

while the porn stars may get treated badly and degraded...the women who have built their own behind the scenes reps get treated pretty nicely....this has just been my experience

most women get listened to before the men do...

but, once again, this is just from what I have seen on porn sets

i never saw any sexual segregation or bigotry....well, maybe once or twice, but it was quickly dealt with

Yep, I have to agree, at least in the last couple of years. Back in 2000 and before, I do remember starting to talk to a guy at Internext and him saying, "Oh, you're CONTENT." And the conversation ended there. But now there is more awareness that women are fully capable of running their own businesses, thank goodness.

Right, I agree with you, I have no doubt that reputable women like KimmyKim and others get treated with the most utmost respect, but what about the 22 year old girl who just became a webmaster rep for sponsor x and she get told to start posting on message boards and attending conventions...

You don't think she is in for a bit of a shock when she sees the way we talk about girls and such? Of course it would be naive to think they do not know what they are getting themselves into, so what I am getting at is what is the mentality of the 22 year old girl who wants to work behind the scenes in this male dominated industry?

Sorry..but any 22 year old female who "just became a webmaster rep" for sponsor x..if she doesn't know she's on the boards or repping 9 times out of 10 due to the fact that she's got a set of tits then that's her fault.

I respect all women in this biz...especially women people refer to "content" because they are to use an even worse worse the work horses of this industry...without them we would all be pushing gay porn.

But to get back to the point..sure there are some very knowledgable sponsor reps out there thate are both male and female..but the simple fact is a lot of women get hired simply because they have tits.

I responded to an advertisementon GFY 3 years ago to be a rep for a company and I was turned down specifically for the reason I was a guy...too bad that idiot 22 year olds would rather get their advice from some "cutie" who doesn't know shit rather than a true webmaster with experience in this biz.

Actually as a webmaster I don't deal with harassment at all, because I work alone and at home, and I don't need to have contact with anyone face to face as I would have to in the real
world . All the guys have talked to on icq have always been respectful and professional. I don't tell people I am female unless they ask. It is really none of their business.

There's no harassment than on a regular job, because I don't
have any physical contact or even see anyone face to face.
I'm just in front of the pc all day. It's ideal for me because I don't have to deal with any people at all except on icq or something like that, and I get to stay home all day and don't have to deal with people getting on my nerves.

As for conventions, I'm not interested in going to one and never been to one and don't plan to so it doesn't affect me.

I wouldn't want to be a sponsor rep or work for anyone else though, so I can't comment on that. I only work for myself.

most of the time it is just a job and they are playing the part...which is what I can probably say about 50% of the male workers too....they are all just playing the part of what people expect from them

plain and simple, it is all about the money now (now more than ever)...and if you can be a female and walk into a convention and score a $100k deal just from a conversation, you will play the part that gets you that $100k deal, even if this is your first week in the porn biz

some are good at playing the part, some are flat out terrible...but you do see the ones that are flat out terrible gone real quick (i.e. slickcash sarah, she may not be gone from slickcash, but she was definately told to lay off the boards)

The double standard is prevalent in the porn industry. Women who are content will be judged more than women who are not.

However - I have to say that this industry probably has the best percentage, per capita of acceptance of a woman who is content.

In other words - sure, you have assholes here on this subject. But a lot less, probably, than in the general society at large. I think it just gets magnified in this industry because people find it so ridiculous. The double standard stands out more when placed against the backdrop of hypcrocisy it represents if you work in this industry.

Mona has always ignored the entire issue. She gave me her 2 cents on this thread (her thoughts above, actually) but said she wouldn't post as she feels it's pointless. Those who judge will always judge, why bother worrying about them, or waste your breath?

I agree.

One of the things that amazes me about a few women in this industry and remember I married to one of them, is the cry "And he wanted to fuck me!"

Sweetheart, if men did not want to fuck you there would be no porn industry, or you would be ugly, either way you will be earning a lot less money. This industry is based on the fact that men want to fuck women, the clever woman uses that to her advantage.

Respect is earned not given. I do not automatically respect anyone whether they have a dick or a pussy. I treat them equally until they earn my respect, that person may be a model or an executive, male or female.

One thing I will say about some here and the way they treat women is. What is clear from their reaction to women is a fear or hatred of them, usually from getting rejected too often.

I never regard a woman as a whore or belittle her. but then I have nothing to fear from them.

I disagree with you. I work behind the scenes, and i have not gotten treated badly once. I went to webmaster access, adn everyoen was really nice to me. I guesse everyone sees things differently.

Exactly! I know what men want, we all do.

I've found the men in this industry to be real nice (could have something to do with my 38DDD titties ) But seriously I've never felt disrespected, I think being a woman in this industry is an advantage.
My mindset? Why is that even a question, my mind is set on making money, just like any man in this biz.

The way a lot of men view women is just a fact of life, as a black woman, I've heard it all... bitch... ho you name it i've been called it, I get more respect from men in this industry then I do from men in the streets. And even if some webmaster called me out my name, I'm just not that thin skinned, who gives a fuck??

I've got 5 paysites, I shoot a lot of my own content, I have a few tgp's at the end of the day do you really think i'm sitting around worried if women in this industry are viewed negitively? Do you think ANY woman in front or behind the scenes in this industry is worried about how we are viewed? Nope, we know exactly how we are viewed, we knew before we got into this, we're about getting our money.

As somebody who has worked on both sides of the camera, I can honestly say that I have not once been disrespected (to my face, anyway) since crossing over to the "clothed" side. When I used to go to the shows as "content", that was a different story. I was never outright disrespected, but I could feel that the respect was not there.

For most women in the industry who aren't content, I don't think respect is really an issue. I think that the few women in this biz who DO know their shit are generally treated with more respect than most men are. However, it takes a special kind of woman to stay in this extremely male-dominated industry for any length of time, and not lose their respect for men. I personally see very few men at industry conventions and parties who possess the kind of qualities that deserve respect.

you're treated how you deserve to be treated in this industry... if you act like a slut you're treated like a slut and if you act like a professional you're treated like a professional.. regardless of whether you're man or woman.. just look at juicy.. acts like a slut - treated like a slut.

seriously though, you make your bed so you lie in it. If you want to go around with your tits hanging out at all the conventions and discuss business with your pussy and then you get treated badly it's nobody's fault but your own. If you can do your job effectively and act like it's really a business instead of playtime you're good to go.

I don't know about other women in the biz, but myself.. I've always worked in male dominated businesses.

In the adult industry I've never felt put down or demeaned because I was a woman

The ones I see being put down or made fun of are the ones who deserve it, and actually I think this business has more tolerance for woman than any other.

Being the type of business it is, I think webmasters are very careful not to fall into the sterotype of calling women lesser members because of their sex, and the ones that do.. well.. they're idiots and not to be paid attention to anyway

The smart ones will always do well regardless of their sex.

MetaformX, I guess I just haven't seen what you're talking about, because I see men treated much worse than women, around here anyway.. and I'd hate to be a man in this business because of the awful way some are treated.

And as far as content.. a woman isn't content.. her pictures are.. I don't see the two as one really, same goes for the guys who model, if someone sees it differently, I probably just write them off right from the start and that's probably why I don't notice it.

I'm not content, never have been, never would be. But money is money and I don't discriminate against it I don't feel bad for "exploiting" fellow females, because they are willingly doing what they do and they could always choose not to.

I also have no problem exploiting (gay) males *GiGGLeS*
