It's VERY hard to predict.

And even more interesting question, is how will the adult internet look like?

since everyone's getting faster connections will that mean we will also burn tons more bandwidth in the future? I mean, for example pic tgp's are dying, what about movie tgp's will they keep 20 sec movies or......

o well, I have no idea but I know more and more people will use the internet so that's one thing that's good.

Yes wireless and directly into your powersocket (allready working in denmark - in some places). However i read recently that some "Big Thinkers" thinks that the internet as we know it will more or less die due to the massive amount of virus, spam, spyware etc. been distributed via the internet an email. They predict most surfing will be done via TV Like clients and mainly used for video-on-demand and tv-on-demand like entertainment.

But a lot can happen in 10 years

Faster residential broadband and mobile broadband are going to be commonplace.

I also expect the internet will become more of a tool and less of a novelty.

You connect your fridge/kitchen things to the 'internet' so they can get information thats useful, etc. Kinda like the other essentials of water/gas/electricity.

My ..

That's what I've said for a long time but it will be more than just TV on demand. I think the major networks will broadcast TV via the Internet and they will build mega sites much like what AOL is today. I'm sure wireless access points will be as common as phone booths so you will have access almost anywhere.

They are getting very close to integrating computer chips into human brains. So once that happens who knows what in the world will happen.

Yeah, but I think 1gbps wireless might be more than 10 years from now, but who knows?

I hope we all have 100tbps wireless soon

10 years from now: Every site and service will have word, code and/or picture verification when logging on/in. Making many things near impossible.

It's definitely moving towards smart houses. The whole house wired up to an ultra fast broadband connection where there isn't much in the house you can't control from a single touch screen panel. Everything interacting, everything multifunctioned and easier to use than a mac. Also, I agree that all entertainment will be on demand 24/7.

So you are not a fan of CAPTCHA either huh.

I think we better start working on Auto-Human DNA sequence generators to beat the system (like the old keygens) as in 10 years time forget hand/fingerprint or iris scanning, we will prob need to submit valid DNA to prove to a computer that we are humans

I admit that it is a clever and effective anti method but I am definitely against it lol. I'm confident that for every door they shut, 10 windows of opportunity are already open. Just have to keep adapting

I read somewhere that 3rd generation bluetooth will have a range of up to 500-700 metres so bluetooth will soon find its way into more of you home equipment for sure

Think back to 1994. Could you have imagined what we have now back then?

Probably not, but I don't think anything has happened in that 10 years that has been too shocking either.

The biggest surprise was probably that the internet really helped to make the CD secondary to MP3 files for many people.

Some very cool things are bound to happen over the next decade, but I don't think the internet 10 years from now will be too different than what we've got now. If one of us went into a 10 year coma today, I don't think we'd be totally lost when we woke up and started using it again.

There is no doubt that the Internet will go through some vast changes, very similar to what our phone companies have gone through when cell phones become common place. The phone companies used to charge us per minute. Truth is that phone line was there and ready to be used no matter if it was used or not. Cell phone companies came on line and changed everything; I have pay one flat fee per month for nearly unlimited phone calls.

The same thing will happen to the Internet. Bandwidth prices continue to drop. We'll get to the point where they can supply umlimited bandwidth for a flat fee.

As for the Internet itself, I'm sure lots will change. But we'll never go to a "TV format"; The beauty of the Internet is that anyone can make a web page, put it on line, and let the world see it.

All of the virus and spyware crap will be gone in the next ten years.
