Morphine..ah what fond memories!!!
I ruptured my large intestine so I was in the hospital for 20 days, then another 20 days having 3/4 of my large intestine removed. That Morphine button on my IV was my best freind..however after 10 days straight it really messes with your memory. I think I asked the Lady next to me 10 times a day what her name was. |
When i was 16 i was in a bad car accident and shattered my hip (also got 3 bad bad cuts along with dislocating the hip ta boot). After 5 hours of ex-rays and crap the nurse said i was getting admitted and they could finally administer a pain killer (i had been sitting there since 10:00 p.m. in the worst physical pain i have ever felt). That was when i met my good buddy morphine. I will never forget the shot. She gave it to me in my upper arm and i could feel it burn thru my veins until it hit my heart. One second after that everything bad disappeared. I looked at my mom and dad and told them not to worry cause "I feel so good".
This was before hospitals started using the "drip", which allows for more frequent smaller doses. At this time they just gave you one heaping shot every X amount of hours. I was on morphine shots for 9 days.... I remember thinking to myself that morphine (or heroin for that matter) has got to be the most unbelievable high. I was in the most excruciating pain of my life, and with one shot it not only made the pain go away... it also made me feel GOOD. Whoa, how good you would feel if you took when you weren't in pain??? Well anyways that was what i was thinking when i was at home resting and trying to reflect back on those 9 interesting days. I was told that morphine is the closest derivative of heroin. Let's just say, i can see how so many get addicted. |
