Blue screen of death question
One of my computers gets a blue screen everytime I try to boot it up so I plugged the harddrive into another computer as the slave harddrive and am trying to back up all the files, however, it will not let me access the user files from documents and settings, it only lets me access the 'All Users' folder. This is probably the only folder I need to back up on the drive and it won't let me access it, I am thinking because that user required a password to login. Does anyone know how I can back up this folder? It's the folder that contains my documents, desktop, application data, etc.
If no one knows what I can do, does anyone have a downloadable version of windows 2k pro? Thanks |

Does that program keep the right file name or does it rename the file as recovered text file, etc

I am guessing that the reason you cannot
gain access to your files is because of the permissions on them. You need to take ownership of them as Administrator! http://support.microsoft.com/default...308421&sd=tech hope that helps, it specifically addresses the problem you're having. |

Thank you so so much! I had this problem on my laptop and as soon as I fix the power inlet on it I will be sure to do the same and back up those long lost files. I greatly appreciate it.
The pin on the harddrive broke on the very base, but its the one all the way to the right |

Here is a schematic can you tell which pin is the one damaged? http://inf33-www.informatik.unibw-mu...eprmb/1290.htm I am assuming it is the GRND, and hoping it is not the 5V HD motor pin..! |

Should the pin be nescessary then? I know a bit about soldering but I don't consider myself good. At least this one is in the most accessable place out of all the pins

I tried booting the computer up but it wasnt detecting the harddrive, I am not sure if it was all the spyware the got infected or if its the pin. Actually, when I first restarted my computer and noticed this problem, the computer kept restarting after loading the windows screen.

Not to be mean or anything, but can you just throw that one out and start all over???
It may be less of a headache.
