Is Vonage fucked? Is there an alternative?

Is Vonage fucked? Is there an alternative?

If this has already been discussed I apologize. I've been traveling a great deal and I'm out of the loop on a few things. I'm told that their site has been down for a week. Could that be true?

their site and my service are both up at the moment. I haven't been having any problems over the last week either.

I recently heard that vonage customers are having trouble calling toll free numbers. Not sure what the problem is you're experiencing but I've heard of the above problem.

Working fine here. I switched to the new Linksys MTA that they are now offering. It eliminated a couple of bugs that the Motorola MTA had.

My vonage service is up but it is a bit fucked. I hear a pause when I first answer the phone and some times the person on the other end hears an ecko. Is everyones like this?

We just got it last week and I'm not so sure we are going to keep it. Unless there is a way to fix the clarity of it.

Used it for over a year so far at the office and home both... it gets flakey every once in a while but those are most likely just internet routing issues. Otherwise, my experience is that it's always up. For VOIP they're the best choice I think and it appears the company is healthy, financially.

Working great for me. I've had them for about 6 months, and am using the Motorola MTA. Took them forever to get my number ported over from SBC (Sucks to Be their Customer). You'll want to make sure your router supports QOS for clearer calls.

If you have Bright House cable in your area they are about to start offering this kind of service.

Have Vonage for about 6 months now, and it has been great. Never had a downtime. The only problem I had with thier site for the last couple weeks was that on some days you couldnt download your voicemail messages fromthe PC, and I had to dial in to get them.

Will never go back to the baby bells, my long distance bill went from $200+ a month to 39.95.
