seems like NATS is becoming almost a standard amongst smaller programs, is it getting to the point that affiliates are promoting programs that use NATS over programs that use other affiliate software?

I look at it this way.. If it takes me a year or two longer to get to where I want to be because i dont shave, but affiliates are happy, then I'm almost certain I will have a solid program with happy affiliates for years to come.

i dont understand when people say this... like its completely impossible for someone to incorporate a shave into NATS.

There is just no built-in scripts in nats

It's more about people loosing their trust in MPA because of the shave feature ... They deserved what they got

Doesn't really matter. If a program owner is determined to shave you, he will shave you, regardless of whether he's using custom software, NATS, MPA or even something like CCBill.

NATS does look pretty sweet though. I've only heard good things about it.

IMO, big program owners could easily order a custom NATS build, for shaving and what else...

We convert a lot better using other sponsors than sponsors with NATS.

You would have to crack the source code and write a custom shaving script to shave using NATS. It isn't like MPA2, the previous industry standard, where a shave featre was included by default.

I plan on using nats when I launch my program for the simple fact that it's the best all around solution right now and the anti shaving is a huge bonus in trying to get people to trust you especially if you are new...

I'd attribute it to shitty sites that don't have a chance no matter what you use.

NATS has good clients with quality content and it has not so good clients that are new to the game. Figure out what your surfers want based on click through stats and then match them with programs and sites that are compatable.

this is false. to shave around NATS is actually pretty freakin' easy.

NO NATS will not make custom builds with shave built in!

what do you base these counts on? sponsor stats or stats that you keep of your outgoing clicks? if you are using sponsor stats, many affiliate programs count hits based on very differant criteria, it seems that nats counts almost exactly what my servers outcounts out. even closer then ccbill's stats. and wayyy more accurate then almost any other affiliate progams software.

Lots of people with lots of opinions in here which is good for having a good discussion.

Your comment is the only one I have a REAL problem with.

Who are you to say how we run our business. We would NEVER build a shave feature into NATS at any price. We have been offered a good chunk of change here and there anonymously by people to do it and we have turned them away.

Again, who are you to comment on what my company would or wouldn't do.

Exactly. And thats because none of them are shaving. We have many checks and balances built in to help prevent this. There are ways you could attempt to shave of course but the way we have built things this would cause other things to break, flags to pop up, etc. I'm not going into details on this becuase that would obviously make it easier for someone to try to screw with the system.

However, should someone attempt to screw with the system we WILL catch wind of it and their licesnse will be revoked and they will most likely have a lawsuit on their hands. We take this stuff very seriously.

Back to Lensman and his PPS program...

I've seen his setup and his sites. He can pay that much honestly with his program for two reasons.

One, becuase he utilizes everything he can (one click upgrades (limited trials), great exit and upsell management, custom content, etc.) to squeeze everything he can out of conversions, retension, and the surfer's wallet. Without NATS making all of these things happen in harmony would be quite a headache and many people simply take the easy route out and shave. He does not.

Two, like many businesses it's about volume. I've seen too many people in this industry looking for the big sale. There's lots of money to be made a little bit at a time. Very often a lower profit margin and much higher volume will be a better payoff at the end.

Lensman is not a part owner of NATS like I have heard the occasional rumor about. He does not get any special treatment. He is a client like any other. He simply utilizies the NATS softwae to it's fullest potential and knows the industry and many people in it very well.

Unlike other software programs that thought it was a good idea to put one on the front page of the admin area, there is NO SHAVE FEATURE in ANY NATS. There never has been, there never will be. Those who think they can somehow screw with the system and make it shave will find out the consequences of doing so if and when they attempt it.

P.S. My earlier reply to this post was regarding the first part not the second part.

The second part is an observation you've made and I'm sure there will be others who sometimes make the same observation. It is most likely a testing of a small sample of things and certain programs simply don't work on certain traffic.

Your first part however is still completely off the wall and absurd.

I hope NATS continues to grow and make the admin for affiliates better. But so far, as an affiliate to 3-4 programs who use NATS... I'm pretty damn happy with it.

I'd love to hear from an affiliate viewpoint how you feel it could be made better.

The #1 "complaint" so far has been the encrypted affiliate strings (they conatain more than the affiliate ID of course)

Are there things other than that which you would like to recommend or suggest to us?
