software to spider a site and create a site map?

Anyone know of anything good? Output in HTML, if possible..

Check out hotscripts.com and search for "sitemap". There are several scripts on there that will make a sitemap of all the files on your server. I didn't see any that you could remotely crawl another site if that is what you are looking for, but the scripts I am talking about consist of one tiny file that reads your directories and subdirectories and prints out a nice hiearcha listing of all files and folders minus the ones you don't want listed.

Thanks - I looked at those. The one that looked the best was Trillian Site Mapper. I installed it and it kind of makes a site map - not structured like you would expect, though. It's more of a link checking tool.

There was another that looks really good, but I don't want to spend $500 for a script like this

This is the one I have used on several sites in the past. It has one php file and a few graphic files that help lay it out in a tree like display.
