recommended bars in whistler?
i'm going up to whistler next week for a few days, and since i can't be skiing the entire time, what are some nice bars up there?
i don't think i've been to the village since i was 16 or so and wasn't seeing much in the way of bars/clubs back then. |

Once past Squamish, there's no such things as bars or alcohol.
Only weed and house parties ![]()

there's about 100 different bars in Whistler. are you looking for something elegant, or more clubby, or are you more into pubs?

i'm getting older, so i'm more into the lounge and pub scene. my current favorite lounge is the FiftyTwo 80 bar in the Four Seasons. i also love going to the Bearfoot Bistro for live jazz and martinis. the Mallard is nice, especially the outdoor gas fires (has a cigar room too), but the service is shit. as far as pubs, there is Dublin's, and right on top of it, Black's pub (not quite as nice, but cool in it's own way). both in the village, across from the blackcomb gondola. Then there are the more basic (but very popular) bars: Dusty's (across from the Creekside gondola), Garbaldi Lift Co, and the dive bar of Whistler: The Boot Pub. In the village you can also hit the amsterdam, and citta's - these two places are packed pretty much any time of the day or night... and the outdoor patios are filled with skiers/snowboards during the day. located right at the center of the village, beside each other. if you are in creekside, there is also southside diner, hoz's pub, uli's flipside, dusty's and other places. i left out a ton of other places... Whistler is an extremely easy place to go bar hopping - when in the village proper, you only have to take 10 steps to go from one bar to the next. one thing to note if you are out late, everyone always ends up migrating to buffalo bills at the very end of the night. B.C.'s strange liquor laws are at least partly responsible i believe - most of the bars have to close at 1 AM, but for some reason Bill's is allows to stay open till around 2:30 am. so naturally everyone eventually heads over there, and the place gets totally packed basically every night of the week. as far as comely Japanese girls, hard to say, they are usually spread out everywhere ;) even better than the bars though, are the restaurants ![]()
