*sigh* The arrangements
I just got back from arranging the funeral. It is going to be Thursday the 3rd of December at 10am. I am going to deliver the service. He wasn't very religious (read: not) but the only other option was a humanist person that never met him and the funeral person kept saying 'and doesn't believe'. My parents are very born again and that would hurt them. So, I figured that I was the one that knew him best and so I will do it. She said 'don't you worry you will cry?' Well..duh. Somethings are too important to wimp out of doing. I just once again wanted to thank everyone. My mom is here so I won't be at the computer much the next couple days. I have told her of these wonderful warm hearted people I work with that have made me restore my faith in humanity. I can't tell her where you are all from as GFY kind of clashes with being born again but it made her feel like I was in good hands. Thank you all, again. |

 | keep your chin up Sarah... I'm sure your religious parents are going on and on with the "he's in a better place now" thing... well, one thing to consider along those lines is... you now have one more angel looking down and taking care of you. I hear Heaven even has plasma screen tv's to make watching all that much more clear too |

 | Hope everything goes well for you. Sarah, I didn't donate a lot but I hope it helped you. Find peace with things ok? You'll be fine To everyone else - it was realy cool to watch everyone come together for one of their own, I was skeptical about this place at first, but I think I'll stay. |

 | Yep, one of the hardest things when someone dies you don't even get time to grieve because of all the things you have to coordinate for the funeral. Hang in there.

 | okay..deep breth - they put down Thursday the 3rd on the papers. Slight problem in that the third is a Friday. So, I went slightly mental on the phone to them because it has to be Thurdsay since all my friends have now taken off work and my dad has to fly back on Friday. To kick it all they aren't open on the weekend so won't call me until Monday to tell me and if it is Thursday then it might now be that time. *deep breath* |

Besides, GFYers are like a family anyway, especially those who have been around a while and actually get to know each other. A dysfunctional family, but family nonetheless. Sarah, I'm not religious either, but you do have my warmest thoughts and hopes. If you need a shoulder, please don't hesitate to hit me on Q. I'm here for you if you need me.

 | Sarah, i think its amazing you are doing the service yourself, you have my respect for that. I buried my mum 8 years ago and i wish the service was different, the vicar had never met my mum and just got everything wrong. It made a very sad day even sadder...hence my respect. Be strong. | Matthew I think you have to remember that when working in an online position like we all do we spend an enormous amount of time online and those that have customer rep and sales jobs spend a lot of time on the boards creating board personas and identities that will be recognized. It becomes a daily routine and ritual for many. I'm not speaking for Sarah but i'm sure that considering the situation she was in with a handicapped husband she didn't do a lot of "social" activities and the boards become an outlet for fun, business and other things. For her to grieve with her friends on the communities is as natural as having a wake in your home that your office co workers attend. Sarah.. One of the things that got me through my dad's death is thinking (if you believe in an afterlife) that he would now be able to walk again and go fishing and chase all the cute nurses that he had been eyeballing when he was hospitalized.. |

It's that old excuse "Hey, I'm just being honest" to cover for abusiveness. There's no possible decent motive you could have for posting what you did, and that's the actual truth.

 | ya ya karma is a bitch pays back 2 : 1 I hope my friends have more class and taste then to come to a circus like this and announce my death. They can announce it, but i wouldn't want them to announce it in this mannor. Sextoydumbfuck, does it make you feel smarter to try to talk and understand wise words? PS. If i was her boss and i had alot of funds available, i'd tell her to take off work, i'd front her a few months pay if she NEEDED it, and that is that. Class. I can be a mean mother fucker, but when i need to handle a situation it gets done in the mannor i feel best about. |

 | Good luck, Sarah. I think I would want to do the same (do the service myself), but have no idea if I could. Stay strong, and don't be afraid to ask the people around you for help. Let someone else do the cooking and dishes and laundry for a while, to help take the pressure off.
