Cheapest Way To Do Short T-Shirt Run?
I know the best method to do custom logo T-shirts is silk screening, that's fine when you need them in bulk - the cost of making the color screens is a one time cost and gets spread out over 50, 100, 1000, 10000 t-shirts. BUT what if you only need 1 or 2 T-shirts - is there an alternative for a decent looking shirt that will cost less than spending money on screens for just 1 or 2 shirts? I know some types of PC color printers can print out on some kind of heat transfer paper - but that means buying one of those printers, no cheaper than the silk screens, probably more.
so, that's my question, cheapest option to make 1-5 custom T-shirts. thanks ps. i know this thread requires actual real knowledge of something to make a reply so to spare the indignity of a '0' reply thread .......... does anybody know where I can get a cracked version of Dark Mailer and some pharmaceutical mail lists and some of those nude pictures of Tiffany the Teen. thank you

Depending on what kind of shirt you are doing you may want to go with embroidery.

I've been very happy with cafe press.
When they first started, they sucked. But they quality of heat transfer is MUCH better now. |

The heat transfer is a much better option today than it was even just a year ago. You really can't tell the difference unless you yank at it and abuse the shirt...

Are you looking for design on color shirts or just a design on white?

Go with CafePress. They use the heat transfer but I have ordered one-offs from them before.

how much for a one off from CafePress?
The Avery t-shirt transfers are cheap - and i downloaded the PDF instruction files and it looks easy enough. Should be able to crank out nice t-shirts for 10 bucks a shirt - as long as they look decent in a photo - these aren't for wearing around.

![]() Some office supply stores will also do heat transfers from a digital file. Unless you are a wiz with an iron, it will look much better heat transferred with a machine than an iron on. |

heh. That one is new and only washed once. But I have others I have washed dozens of times and they look fine. Not as good as screen printing, but great for short runs or one-offs. They also print front and back depending on the type of shirt. |
