			 What are the most common reasons that a normally healthy system would all of a suden only boot in safe mode? OS is win98. |

				 | somethign is corrupting your OS. i had that problem a couple years ago (i also use 98). I had to reformat.   |

 Yes, something has corrupted or modified your OS. - Did you install any programs, drivers or perform any updates? If yes, uninstall. - Did you perform any scans (trojans or anti-virus) recently? If yes, perform a restore. If an online scan: The beauty of an OS like 98 (unlike the crap 2K) is you can do a soft install over the existing one. Run set-up (setup) from a dos prompt and re-install you OS. (Yah, BillyBoy's message will say it is not recommended.) Drivers and yadda yadda will be intact (some software links maybe severed, but that is a minimal problem). I have many many friends that use various OSs, and my fav to fix is 98 - I perform soft installs all the time, with no problem! (Try the function "repair OS" from a 2k or XP disc ... what a mess that is.) | |
