I'm not sure when they started. The bike is made in the USA, and is seriously one of the best built I've ever seen.

When I got it, I took it to a bike shop for final assembly and to make any adjustments. The people there all agreed it was a nicer bike then some that were twice the price.

I hate to sell it, I keep thinking one of these days I'll start riding it - but my health isn't going allow it. It probably has less than 2 miles on it.

Can I jack it up and put over-sized mud terrain tyres on it?

Nice bike. I used to do a lot of biking - the funny part was that while I never wore a helmet when riding my Harley, I almost always wore one when I was on my mountain bike. Course, I never took the Harley down insane, narrow, rock-strewn trails at high speed either...

It really is a quality bike - It has Monroe shocks on the front, Shimano drive train, 21 speed, super heavy duty brakes, all the good mountain bike stuff. The tires still have the "tits" on them.
I live in West Virginia, a bike here has to be tough!

It's worth $250 max. Jeep jumped on the "mountain bike" craze of the mid to late 90's and contracted out Raliegh to make thier bikes and slap a Jeep sticker on them. I worked in the wholesale side of the mtn bike/snowboard/ski industry from the late 80's to late 90's, so I know all the details of all the major brands of mtn bike.
I'm sure it's a nice looking bike and has all the "brand name" componenets, but these compnent manufacturers all have multiple lines and different levels of quality for thier parts and if this bike was $600 new, it probably has low to mid quality parts on it. I'm not knocking the bike, I'm just adding a few details that people might want to know. This bike is good for the weekend leisure rider who may go on a few groomed trails now and then. Overselling this bike as serious off road machine will only result in an unhappy buyer.

;)

Jeep® Cherokee TSI Full Suspension MTB - Free Shipping

Full Suspension ? Whether you need full suspension for the added performance or just for the extra comfort, Jeep® Bicycles has a bike for you. ?Full? or ?Dual? suspension describes a bicycle with both wheels suspended by springs and shock absorbers, like a motorcycle or an automobile. Suspension helps keep the wheels in contact with the trail and also smoothes the bumps for the rider. Giving more control and more comfort. The trade off is usually a little more weight and more moving parts. Jeep® Bicycles use proven suspension designs and components for the best overall performance, comfort and durability.
Cherokee TSI ? Another bike built on Jeep® Bicycle?s aluminum linkage suspension frame the Tsi features Shimano®?s 24-speed C-Series drive train, a disc brake, long travel suspension fork and quick release wheels front and rear. Black aluminum rims, fat knobby MTB tires and the threadless headset finish it off. Value, good looks, performance ? NICE bike!

Not the same bike. The bike you listed on the Mountain Bike Store has 24 speeds and a disc brake on the front. The bike that he's selling doesn't have a disc brake or 24 speeds.
Close, but not the same. If that one is listed at $322, then my estimation of $250 for the one he's selling is closer as it's not as good as the one that's $322.

;)

I'm sure I've bought at least 20 new bikes, usually from wal-mart. I've personally never seen a bike as well built and as strong as this one. The brakes at 10 better than a "normal" bike.
