Is it me, or are affiliates just fucking lazy?

Well, are they?

Here is what I'm referring to.

I have been in this business for over 7 years and started out making galleries and free sites. There were no such thing as free hosted galleries. I had to make every gallery with bought content or the very few pics some sponsors provided. It took plenty of time to hand submit every gallery everyday. Basically it was a full time job and then some.

Today, I see nothing but threads requesting freehosted galleries in a special format along with descriptions. What it has boiled down to or appears to be, is affiliates just want to copy and paste and that is it.

Aboout a week ago, we posted a contest giving away 10 paid spots on Hun in spots 6-15 and 25 paid spots on Mark's Bookmarks. We provide the gallery as well as the hosting. All potential affiliates had to do is take 2-3 minutes and signup with our program. I can't believe I still have 4 Hun spots left and 15 Mark's Bookmark spots left.

For the love of Pete, this is FREE money. It is like somebody handing you cash off the street for doing absolutely nothing.

I just don't get it....LOL

So, what is your program. I can make some kickass galleries that sell big ass....

If I sign up with Jason and Alex, do I get some of those spots?

no one forces a program to provide anything for its affiliates. but it's supply and demand, if you don't provide something that's requested and someone else does, then chances are you'll lose the business to the other program.

i'm not refering to your hun deal btw that looks pretty good.

Everything you want to know about the "Stock Bonus Program"
is on our site with regards to how it works.

Basically in a nut shell, for every join you send, you receive "X" number of shares. There are various levels of how many shares you can earn depending on the number of joins you send on a per month basis.

We are probably 60-90 days away from receiving our symbol

yes, but it doesn't state how many shares you issue, what the expected stock price will be, prospects, etc

PPS is faster cash, you need to wait to earn as much as on PPS on Revshare.

but the point is (and i know you understand this), as long as it IS served out on a silver platter, who's fault might it be?

definitely a strange situation.

Definitley strange is correct. It is a catch 22 that will eventually lead to an unfavorable choice sponsors will be forced to make which inevitably will affect all affiliates.

Alex...I think you have created a great case study.

As any company's sales force (webmasters/affiliates here in adult) evolves, both in main-stream and in adult, the sales staff always pushes for the easy close as affiliates do now with their requests.

The question that has been raised here before is regarding the actual demographic of this board and for that matter, all adult boards. Are the people that frequent the boards actually pushing real traffic and generating sales for the programs or are they just casual observers of the adult industry, new comers, and program owners seaching for new affiliates.

I really wonder ?

So trolls don't fucking flame me for this one....it's a legit question.

Every 10th webmaster that signs up will get a spot on Marks Bookmarks and every 15th will get a spot on The Hun. So, if you are the tenth person registered you get Mark, 15th Hun, 20th Mark, 25th Hun, and so on and so forth.

The reason why you didn't get a spot is because you weren't the 10th, 15th, 20th etc.... affiliate to signup....sorry about that

Hey Alex

This wasn't really about the spots, though i would have loved one of those It was about never getting a confirmation about joining your program..

Thing is, when you make a great promo like this, you make me hurry up and join your program, In this case at a moment where all the days work is done since that's when i have time to read Gfy..
So 2 days later when i'm working on new galleries and promos and need to add a new sponsor i go through my mail folder with new sponsors and guess what.. your program isn't there because i never got any mail, so you'll pretty much never get a chance for my traffic..
Not naggin your program or anything, I think it looks great or i wouldn't have joined it, great promo or not, Just saying that confirmation mails propably would give you much more active affiliates

THIS might just be your problem right here. It sounds good on paper, but I can tell you from experience when you run a contest where the # of the posts, signup or whatever is what it is based on, you are going to run into a problem of everyone waiting on someone else to signup so THEY can be the 10th, 15th or whatever. It's like running a contest on the radio where the 10th caller wins, people are going to give it a few minutes til they think 9 others have joined up with you.

I didn't see your contest, I've been sick as hell for almost a week.... but just from experience, I have seen this happen so many times. Right here on GFY, I have seen people say "The 100th person to post in this thread will win a new car" (ok not exactly that, but you get my meaning), and you are going to have 500 people waiting for 99 to post.... LOL

I whole heartedly agree with you on the spoiled affiliates though, when I started out, I did everything by hand and there wasn't such a thing as free galleries, content and so on, or if it was, it was extremely rare cases. Now, I spend so much time making galleries for affiliates, ad materials, gathering content and so on, that I barely have the time in the day to submit my OWN galleries and such. But like roly says, it's supply and demand and if we Sponsors don't want to get left behind, we have to keep up. I don't mind, I have always been helpful to my affiliates, but it does get worse everyday.....

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind working for my affiliates, it's the ones I jump thru hoops for, gathering everything they want/need and then they never even use it, THAT gets a bit frustrating.

I think that a lot of it isn't laziness it's more that there are a lot of people trying to break into the industry and don't know what they are doing they just hear it's easy money...

I also think most affiliates are just lazy.
However, the thing with hosted galleries is that they are not meant to be submitted to other tgps......but mostly used by tgp owners.
As a tgp owner, you need to inport the galleries in your script and make a thumbnail for each single one.
Imagine if you need to do a copy and paste of each one of the urls of the hosted galleries the sponsors provide when you want to load your script with a couple of thousands galleries!
That's why most people request list of hosted galleries in a format ready to import in the script.....cause they want to focus on cropping good thumbnails for each single gallery and handling traffic trades so the site can grow in traffic and make more sales.

what I mean is, how many shares does J&A consist of? What's the worth of these shares? Can we publicly trade them, will we receive dividend? Do we have certain shareholder's rights?

This one I have never ever complained about.... I run TGPs too and I know what a pain in the ass it is. My problem is that we already do a lot of galleries, and those aren't good enough, some want you to make them their very own custom galleries and then host them and everything for them and they never even take the time to submit them. Or the ones that need extra special content, so we take days to gather everything they need and they never use it. The ones that actually use our materials once they ask for it? I have zero problems with them whatsoever..... in fact, I welcome making stuff for them.... it's the ones that we jump thru hoops for and offer them the world at their request and then they just never touch them. Like they want to see just how far they can push.

My complaints aren't as widespread as some are, mine stem 100% from our making things by special requests and then not having ever seen a single bit of traffic back from it. I once spent over a week gathering materials, making them to specs of an affiliate, I mean to the very letter of what was needed..... and was assured I wasn't doing this for nothing.... well guess what? I never seen even the FIRST hit from that week's work and it kind of pissed me off....... but I just used it all in another area, put them on the hosted galleries and someone is using it at least. lol

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into that because everyone should receive a confirmation email.

LOL

It would be more effective to say "randomly selected affiliates" than specific numbers. If your still looking for quantity of affiliates you can then qualify that with "once 50 new affiliates have signed up."

Alex I've been wanting to send you traffic all summer because I knew you had an interracial site. At the time I was dealing mainly with interracial traffic. As time went on I filled up my time with other sponsors. This isn't your fault, just letting you know why it will probably be a while before I send any traffic.

My best sponsor I buy content for. They don't offer a whole lot of content and I'm very grateful for that, leaves more of the promo efforts to me. Free hosted galleries don't do me much good right now, but so many people build in quantity these days that I can see why they want hosted galleries.

And quiet is exactly right, its supply and demand. If you don't supply what somebody demands, another program will. Affiliates want fresh content, hosting, and fresh templates. All they are willing to provide is the traffic, if they ever send it. I'll give affiliates each of those things but I do require one thing beforehand... effort. If an affiliate shows me that he/she is willing to get down and dirty, I'll do whatever it takes to keep their traffic.

Yup, I agree, and that's what we do now.... when we do anything, we don't specify a certain signup will be the winner, we put it that the "random" affiliate will get so and so. I did this same thing a couple of times and I always found it impossible.... so we do the random thing when we do things now.

Well, I mulled over the randomly selected affiliate thing but decided against it because I didn't want anyone throwing out that we had "chosen" which people would win based on likes or dislikes. The thought behind the specified numbers was that they were close enough together (every 5th person won something) that everyone had a shot at winning but we had no control over who got those spots.

Just for the record though I do have 2 more Hun spots and 2 more Marks spots that have been given away today which means I only have one Hun spot left at this point.

That makes perfect sense.....
I have also had affiliates and other people pick them, unknowingly. That way I have a backup of how it was chosen and that it wasn't done based on likes and dislikes. For example... I had a contest one time and I had another member choose the winner, and he didn't know what he was doing, just that he had to choose a number between 1 and however many members there was.... he was quite shocked when he found out what he was choosing the number for and that he didn't choose his own.... LOL

There are a ton of various ways to pick winners without having to "play favorites" and I know how that game goes, it happens all the time. I guess it's nature to say that if you don't win then it is fixed, it sucks but it always happens.
