Ads look great, but sadly the geotargeting is horrible.

The various geotargeting services I've tried IDs my IP exactly right as Reading, PA.

And yet AFF is off by over 20 miles!

Royersford is a tiny place, population wise, and nowhere near Reading, which is a small city of 80,000+ and the county seat of Berks County; Royersford is not even located in the same county!

Why is AFF so far off?

In regards to truth of advertising ... I agree with some of the others here ... AFF should select out REAL profiles and display those - surely that should be easy to do since AFF already does it automatically when one specifies their location (zip code, etc).

Why not show REAL profiles?

As of now, I'd strongly suggest anyone using these new AFF ads to place a large, simple notice that indicates some to the effect that the profiles shown are for demonstration purposes and not necessarily reflective of reality.

I personally will not use the new ads until geotargeting is improved and real profiles are shown.

Nice effort AFF and Lars.

It would have been nice however if real profiles could be used. I referred an idea to AFF not long ago about using profiles from members that signed up through my site (privatexxx). I'm still waiting for a response.

Anyway, I'm not going to use the (faked) geo targeted profiles. I'm satisfied with the results I get from the way I promote AFF right now. It took me some time but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I hate fakes and so do my visitors, so using faked profiles is a big no-no.

Anyone else heading for the extra 10% bonus over November btw?

Ah good, I was hoping it wasn't something on my end.

Ok there was so much demand for this product we blew out the 10 extra servers we ordered for it and overloaded one database server. We have moved to static pages and it is smoking now. the geo is still in there, and later tonight we will start randomizing the static pages to make them look fresh each time your users visit the pages. Sorry for the slowness of the iframes I knew it would be big but had no idea the ammount of pounding you guys would be throwing at it. Next couple days we will offewr a simple geo target text ad that people have been asking for over and over again :) Thanks for your patience and your traffic. My numbers have exploded since using these ads its simply amazing !

And the ads are not so deceiving any more :thumbsup

the only positive thing is that i'm not even close to the city it suggested.

It;s getting better but this feature certainly needs some more tunning on IP detecting and proper result pages.

for example, if no matches were found, it would be nice to give the results from cities nearby.

I will start using the textfeeds when more accurate and if available in more languages.

Yes the good news is there is lots of room for imporvement. And given the huge increase in sales I am willing to go all out to find the best geo IP script out there. Money is no object !

btw Lars, have you ever thought of using 0900 pay-per-minute voice numbers as a billing option in your cam concept for european visitors? For a profitable example on how a pay-per-minute voice billing option is combined with home cams, you can take a look at the feartures of privatexxx.nl

TY for taking a look. But I'm not sure if I understand correctly what you mean by doesn't fit well. Are you referring to what performers and affiliates want or are you referring to the surfer needs?

In my opnion you should aim for the surfer in that respect. Same with these AFF geo target features, it's all about serving him the right goods at the right time and with the proper billing option.

:2 cents:

the economics dont fit well.. we pay the models 35% and we pay teh wemasters 20% thats usually at a minimum $1-2 bucks a minute and thats before I even start to make a profit its hard to charge enough $$ on a phone for me to get $4 bucks my cut after they take all their cuts.
