Didn't actually see them fire at the protestors. You just hear some shooting and alot of confusion, they could be firing back. My best guess is that they where fired upon and fired back, didn't see any reason why they would just start firing into peacefull protestors.

The Ivory Coast is one of the last remaining french colonies. About a week and a half ago, it boiled over and what the US would call 'insurgents' lashed out against the French. France has no fucking right to be there and they are almost as shitty as the bush administration except for ONE thing. BTW, Americans were also selling weapons to Iraqi warlords as well as Saddam Hussein in the late 80's. That point is from an article titled "The Arms Trade" by Mark Phyhian published 2003. The french are known for their bluntness. Perhaps the story hasn't quite reached critical mass yet? I'd think once the right-wing blogosphere get hold of it, it'll get coverage (you're right though probably not the same extent as if it was americans)..

But also, the United States put itself out there as this pillar of freedom and decency so it's always going to be a target when it doesn't live up to this.

The french and Belgium are responsable for some of the worst attrocities in Africa, particularly the Ivory Coast and apparently in Serria Leone. The protestors were caught between an exchange of fire between the french and an armed gang of locals. This was the story of the french government and has been confirmed by independent journalists that were there.

Same shit happens already since 18 months in Iraq on a daily basis...

Oklahoma City, in which two American Citizens often thought to be part of a Militia, Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh, who made a bomb out of fertilizer were convicted.
The bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993 was in a Van parked in the car park below the building, however several of the plotters of that are already in jail serving life sentances for their part in the bombing.

Chompsky is solid for a few reasons, one - He's a linguist, entereing field to become a philosopher. Two - He uses unequivical logic. His conclusions are based on the most logcal and simple possibilities. He can retain an incredible amount of information and see the bigger picture at all times. When he speaks, it's almopst hard to stay awake cause it's like he's reading an essay.

Jean Raulston Saul - he's pretty good at taking events and drawing logical facts from them - global terms for local events

Pearl Harbour was a US Clolny in the 1940's, newly acquired at that.

The farthest the British ever reached was New York from the North and I believe they made some naval incursions along the coast. most of the information I have read about the above events I have read several books about: "The War against America", "Seeds of Terror" "Holy War, Inc." and a few others, however I do not adopt any one of the above theories and read the "middle", where events are discussed by all three.
As news sources I do read reuters, BBC and often use news.google.com which gives a multinational view of the same events.
