Somewhere alone the line it's become perfectly acceptable for these idiots to behead people, blow up pipelines, and kill police officers.... yet you have a US Marine in a combat zone who shot and killed someone who was trying to kill him and it's a big deal.

The Geneva convention says....
"Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat (out of combat) by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely...."

This doesn't seem to be a "wounded prisoner", but rather a soldier in the middle of a firefight who was playing dead. This wounder soldier may or may not have been armed - but that really doesn't matter; Being as they were in the middle of a firefight it's pretty safe to assume that this wounder soldier was armed and was just waiting for his chance to kill any Marine he could.

Let me put it this way. I'm a former US Marine, and if I found myself in a firefight with bullets flying over my fucking head I would kill anything that could be a threat to me.

Because the situation is EXTREMELY unplausable. However, even in that extremely unlikely situation, he would still be out of line because from what I can tell and what was reported, the individual in question wasn't doing anything, but lying there. If he had a bomb and he wanted to blow them up, why didn't he do it? Why did he lay there for a whole day and still not denotate his bomb when they got back?

That's because we have written documents and laws that we agreed to conduct ourselves by. Laws don't mean anything if they are not followed. If they are broken, then there needs to be an appropriate penalty.

What you described is legal, you can shoot an armed combatant. However, the victim in question was unarmed and wasn't doing anything but lying there and bleeding.

I've got no sympathy for guys who get killed on the battlefield like that Iraqi. If he had at any point been shooting or involved in acting against our soliders then I'm more than happy that he's dead.

The people who were fucking up the prisoners already inside the prison are criminals, this guy who shot this Iraqi is a hero.
