Quick $20 paypal - Help me with my email! Should take 2 minutes of your time

Here is the problem. I use Microsoft Outlook 2000. Its a real version not express, and yes I paid for it (just in case i need to load a certain file etc). The problem is that I can not send out emails on the account. I have around 5 different email accounts that I use on it. All 5 of the accounts can accept email (meaning I can check my email), but I can not send email out. Every time I try to email I get the following error:

Task Frank- Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

I have a Cable connection. If I connect using AOL, I don't have a problem, it sends emails right out.

What the hell can be causing this? I tried turning off my firewall, etc. It must be in the email program, because if I sign on using a dial up connection like AOL, and then load Microsoft Outlook, I can send and receive emails through Outlook with no problem, so it must be something with outlook.

$20 bucks if you suggestion helps

the SMTP server is still set to AOL's, and it won't work if you're not connecting through AOL

use your cableco's SMTP server (on some systems if you 'ping mail' from a dosbox it will give you the IP)

address/IP could also be on their support website

last resort, call up their support and ask

Same thing happens to me if I try to send email through my dialup ISP's server if I am connected through DSL. It's just a safeguard your dialup ISP has in place.

You'll either have to stop using the AOL email address to send messages, or connect to your dial up account every time you want to send email.

Just to clear it up...
When I use a dial up connection on AOL, i then load Microsfot Outlook and I can send out emails through Outlook.

As soon as I disconnect from AOL and get to Cable, then load up Microsoft Outlook, I can not send out emails.

Same Outlook accounts, can only send out mail if im connected to the internet on a dial up connection, not cable. It worked fine for the last few months, then all of a sudden it stopped

AOL changed your email connection type. Fix that and it will work.

On 5 of the email address, 2 of them use my SMTP, and 3 of them use the domains SMTP, and yet none of them will send out emails when I'm connected through my Cable modem

Your cable company blocked port 25. call them and ask.

Yes you can change it in outlook but it maybe tricky to get your smtp server to recognize it. Its better to ask your cable company to unblock port 25 in your cable modem. sometimes they will. sometimes they can sugest a work around.
