THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) -- An explosion during a police raid on a house in The Hague has wounded three police officers, while Dutch authorities closed the air space over the city as part of the operation.

Authorities would not confirm whether the raid early Wednesday was connected to an investigation into possible terrorist suspects, and it was not immediately clear why air space over the city -- which has no major airports -- had been closed.

Several city blocks were cordoned off in a mostly immigrant neighborhood near The Hague's Holland Spoor train station, and police demanded identification from anyone wishing to leave.

The explosion occurred as police raided the house during an operation they said was conducted on behalf of national prosecutors. Gunshots were also heard during the raid.

Two police officers were hospitalized in serious, but not life-threatening condition, and one was treated and released with minor injuries, police spokesman Frans van Rijnswou said.

The building was surrounded by police in riot gear, fire engines, ambulances and swat teams.

Photographers on the scene showed images of a man of Asian descent being dragged from the building clad only in boxer shorts and escorted away, but police would not confirm the apparent arrest. They did confirm there were still suspects in the building.

Authorities would not say whether the raid was connected to an investigation in the alleged terrorist slaying of filmmaker Theo van Gogh on Nov. 2. Van Gogh had received death threats after the release of his most recent film about the treatment of women under Islam.

There have been more than a dozen arson attacks in the Netherlands against churches and mosques since Van Gogh's killing in Amsterdam more than a week ago.

Six suspects, believed to be members of a terrorist group, remain in custody, including the alleged killer, 26-year-old Mohammed Bouyeri, who holds dual Dutch and Moroccan nationality.

No, what Europe really needs is a Government capable of addressing the birth-rates issue. It can be addressed, and for the sake of Europe and the generations of children to come it should be. What is going on in Europe now (the mass immigration of all these hostiles peoples - note most aren't hostile, but it takes only a few to set off the pack) is going to cause a shitstorm in years to come. The only way the underlying problem (the babyboomers growing old and thereby placing a heavy burden upon a relatively small workforce) could be countered is by continuously rising birthrates. Sorry, but you are only partly right. What you say holds true for a relatively small portion of immigrants, but not for the majority of those who fail to integrate into society.

The fact of the matter is that the problem is not society refusing to accept those people, but those people refusing to accept society.
Asians fit in with very little trouble, arabs form a huge problem. In Holland, people from Suriname fit in wonderfully, while people from the Antilles don't fit in at all. Same colour, different culture.

Blaming racism seems rather ridiculous in light of the actual facts. Incompatible cultures are a more likely culprit.

Well, that's not entirely true. You see, extreme fundamentalism is much more likely to develop in sub-societies that are completely sealed off from mainstream culture than in multicultural environments.

So, in a way, the muslims who only live in their own subcultures within society are a big part of the problem. Ofcourse, that does not include all muslims, but it does include many.

It's not the same. The immigrants that come to the US are mostly westerns who hold the same values so it's easy to make friends with them. Islamists don't want to be friends with Europeans because they see their way of life as sinful and they want it destroyed.

The Qu'ran is considered the word of god and Allah has already said that it will never change.
Therefore if Islam changes then it will no longer be Islam.
In fact, the Shia changed their version to Shia'ism, the Sufis to Sufism, etc.

The form of Islam which is closest to that practiced by Muhammad is Wahabism and is the driving force behind Islamic terrorism today.

By the way, the closest to real Christians would appear to be the Jehovah's Witnesses. Although I could be wrong on that, as my knowledge of Christianity is fairly poor.

Just because you used to be a religious nutjob, does not mean that that encompasses the entire religion. A large part of most religions is that most of their followers do not follow them to the letter, and that also holds for Islam.

Jehova's Witnesses consider themselves the only real christians, just like any other christian group. That means nothing else to outsiders than that there are different groups with different views on what the truth is.

The fact that you think only your group represents "true Islam" is laughable to any well-thinking individual because it is exactly what they all say. Millions of people who have studied what they consider "true Islam" all their lives have very different opinions on what "true Islam" is, why should a single one of those opinions get the exclusive right to use the word?

And even more importantly... it doesn't even matter if you are right or not, since the only difference it would make would be that we would have to use "the majority of those who consider themselves muslims" instead of "the majority of muslims", and "true muslims" instead of "extremist muslims". Exactly, I've said that before and no one seems to believe it. I love arguing with people that call themselves Christians and are bitching about the Muslims extremists. I love to point out the the bible if followed as strictly as the Qu'ran is just as extreme as the Qu'ran.

The simple fact is these "extremists" are following their book to the letter. However Christians seem to think they can change the meaning of their book to fit their needs or time they are living in.

When you start bringing up the parts of the bible that talk about stoning people to death for committing simple crimes such as talking back to their parents or stealing. Then they try to change the subject saying it doesn't mean that literally. Christianity and Islam are from the same roots, one has been deluded to fit the common day needs of it's followers one has not.
