Islam is not a religion like Christianity which can be changed.
The Qu'ran is considered the word of god and Allah has already said that it will never change.
Therefore if Islam changes then it will no longer be Islam.
In fact, the Shia changed their version to Shia'ism, the Sufis to Sufism, etc.
The form of Islam which is closest to that practiced by Muhammad is Wahabism and is the driving force behind Islamic terrorism today.
By the way, the closest to real Christians would appear to be the Jehovah's Witnesses. Although I could be wrong on that, as my knowledge of Christianity is fairly poor.
But my knowledge of Islam is second to none. It's a fascinating religion, albeit one of man's greatest mistakes.

Exactly, I've said that before and no one seems to believe it. I love arguing with people that call themselves Christians and are bitching about the Muslims extremists. I love to point out the the bible if followed as strictly as the Qu'ran is just as extreme as the Qu'ran.
The simple fact is these "extremists" are following their book to the letter. However Christians seem to think they can change the meaning of their book to fit their needs or time they are living in.
When you start bringing up the parts of the bible that talk about stoning people to death for committing simple crimes such as talking back to their parents or stealing. Then they try to change the subject saying it doesn't mean that literally. Christianity and Islam are from the same roots, one has been deluded to fit the common day needs of it's followers one has not.
IMO all religions is the root of all evil.
