What about all the children ???
In all of the hype amidst all that has happened Tuesday, how many have taken a moment to say a prayer for all the children who's mother or father dropped them at school, daycare, or the sitters, but will never pick them up again ???
My wife and I have already donated $1000.00 of our "savings for a rainy day" to the Red Cross, but still feel that we are not doing enough ... I am thinking that this tragedy is reason enough for another ONLINE charity auction ... We (I use the term collectively, as a member of the adult community), were able to raise over $115'000 for the "Flock of Angels" auction that Erika and PattyCake put on ... and I've been told basically as much in Miami ... I think since most in this industry make "above average wages", we need to band together again for the cause ... What are your thoughts on this idea, and who would be interested in helping to organize such an event ??? I think the children affected by this horrendous tragedy could use an extra $100,000 (I'd go out on a limb to assume that we would raise MUCH more than that though ... considering the magnatude of this tragedy, and how many it has affected "first hand") [This message has been edited by -=HUNGRYMAN=- (edited 09-12-2001).] |

Thus far ... pretty much all of the response I have got to this idea has been negative !! People thinking that I am trying to put a price on th lives lost, or that I think a bit of money will solve all the problems ...
I am very deeply saddened that that is how my peers see me ... I KNOW THAT NO AMOUNT OF MONEY WILL RIGHT THE WRONGS OF THIS TRAGEDY ... AND NO AMOUNT OF MONEY WILL COMPENSATE FOR WHAT PEOPLE HAVE LOST !!! I just thought that a collective effort on behalf of all of us would be a great gesture of goodwill to "help" the victims rebuild their lives!! My wife and I made a considerable donation (considerable, when we are barely getting by ...), and all we will get from it is a tax receipt, and a warm feeling in our hearts that we were able to help ... I alpologize for offending anybody, as that was not my intentions at all. |

This announcement was made on another board by Ken of Webquest
Hey Everyone, It's clear that we are all going through a wide range of emotions regarding the events that took place yesterday - Anger, Fear, Shock, Grief, etc. Many of you have expressed a desire to help and we think this is the best way for us to deal with what has taken place. Therefore, WEGCASH and WebQuest have joined forces and are in the process of putting together a charity auction to support this cause. The charity auction will take place next week and more details will be released tomorrow regarding time, place, how to donate, etc. The last time we held a charity auction, the webmaster community stepped up to the plate and we were able to give over $250,000 to childrens charities. We're hoping that once again, the industry will pull together and show strong support for this worthy cause. Our best wishes and prayers go out to everyone who has been touched by this tragedy.
