Other countries do not equate to Texas. Oklahoma. Louisiana. Alabama. Mississippi. Georgia...etc...etc...etc.

These states are filled with people who still feel it's a woman's place to honor and obey her husband..and that means stay at home and take care of the kids.

If she has a job...she still comes home to take care of the kids while the husband does whatever he wants.

I'm telling you from experience. I grew up in Texas...it can be a different world.

No. I'm telling you tho' that most european countries from my learning experience leave religion out of politics.

The south doesn't...as is apparent in this last election.

I'll give you an example of how the church got involved in the Reagan re-election campaign when I was an 18 year old kid...getting ready for my first ever vote.

They outright told us it was our duty to vote for Reagan.

They had every Sunday petitions to sign, all kinds of baseless rumors on what would happen if Reagan did not win.

This is no bullshit....one thing they told us was that they would start airing executions and suicides on t.v. in a pay per view type event.

They also tied it in directly with the book of Revelations, and the coming of the anti-christ...I shit you not.

This is the exact same kind of bullshit they pulled in the south with the whole gay marriage, and stem cell issues...they went after them with "morality" issues....more like fear...and it worked.

Dude, I am sorry, but I have read every post in this thread, and you don't have a clue. I guess you are under 30, maybe 25, but you are young and idealistic, as the youth should be, that is the time for it.

However . . . . only 10% of the youth voted Tuesday, when 54% of them voted for Kerry. Talk about idiots. Fucking kids.

They won't vote in '08 either.

Think about it. Who had the right to vote first? White women or black men?

When you figure that out, you will understand that you will have a black male president before you have a female president. THe Democrats are the only ones that are going to nominate a black man or a white woman. The only person in the wings that I see is Obama, but he won't be ready until 2012.

Then the Dems will screw up and put Hillary as he running mate, and they will lose. He will try again in 2016, but with a male runnimg mate, and maybe win.

Thanks!! Wish that I were that young again. I'm 55. I have been active in politics, have been to political events in both major parties (not just rallies), have done political web sites (my candidates won) and have consulted on city wide races.

Hillary was a year ahead of me at the same high school. Doesn?t mean anything, just name dropping.

All that doesn't mean I don't have a clue I guess. I am idealistic and hope I remain that way.

No ill intended, but times are changing. Perhaps faster than you think? I have been to recent township meetings that would support your point of view for sure, but that was in a rural area. You could still see the struggle though between ideologies.

I think what we've learned in this last election is that the majority of Americans don't agree with Hollywood actors and pornographers on GFY...even if the president is considered one of the worst ever.

So for people to think that we could just throw a woman up there in 3 1/2 years and all will be right with the world is just too fantastic at this point and time.

There is a growing group of people out there who are tired of porn on the net..or their kid's access to it.
Penis enlargement spams in their emails.
Shock jocks paying off people to fuck in churches for a contest..etc..etc...etc.

And I can't say that I disagree with them to a degree.

We can have free speech...but we can also be responsible.

But that's another issue...my main point is that you and I both know that when you get to the south, the deep south those feelings only get stronger.

Colin Powell won't run. He's finished. He's been played by his own party. When things were going bad, they put him out there to tell us the kinds of weapons Saddam had and all the other lies. He was used like a puppet. He knows that. He didn't want to go to Iraq. I'm sure he'll retired after this is all said and done. He probably will retire this coming year so that he's not shamed further belonging to a party whose current policy in Iraq is one that he doesn't agree with.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hillary in the whitehouse. Like others have said, I'm not sure that America is ready for a female President, even though gender wouldn't be an issue for me. Is America "that far behind" as somebody put it. I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

By the next time a new President is sworn in it will be 44 years before any President from a state other than Ark, GA, TX or SoCal has been President. Bill got elected because he appealed to Southern Democrats and didn't have the elitist liberal label that Kerry and others from the Northeast that the dems keep trying to run have.
