These states are filled with people who still feel it's a woman's place to honor and obey her husband..and that means stay at home and take care of the kids.
If she has a job...she still comes home to take care of the kids while the husband does whatever he wants.

The south doesn't...as is apparent in this last election.
I'll give you an example of how the church got involved in the Reagan re-election campaign when I was an 18 year old kid...getting ready for my first ever vote.
They outright told us it was our duty to vote for Reagan.
They had every Sunday petitions to sign, all kinds of baseless rumors on what would happen if Reagan did not win.
This is no bullshit....one thing they told us was that they would start airing executions and suicides on t.v. in a pay per view type event.
They also tied it in directly with the book of Revelations, and the coming of the anti-christ...I shit you not.
This is the exact same kind of bullshit they pulled in the south with the whole gay marriage, and stem cell issues...they went after them with "morality" issues....more like fear...and it worked.Last edited by eroswebmaster; 11-05-2004, 12:05 AM.For rent - ICQ 127-027-910

Dude, I am sorry, but I have read every post in this thread, and you don't have a clue. I guess you are under 30, maybe 25, but you are young and idealistic, as the youth should be, that is the time for it.Originally posted by pussyluver
Don't agree, there are blacks and woman that have a shot at it.
May have to be VP 1st? But doubt it.
Collin Powell could have won the election IMO.
However . . . . only 10% of the youth voted Tuesday, when 54% of them voted for Kerry. Talk about idiots. Fucking kids.
They won't vote in '08 either.
Think about it. Who had the right to vote first? White women or black men?
When you figure that out, you will understand that you will have a black male president before you have a female president. THe Democrats are the only ones that are going to nominate a black man or a white woman. The only person in the wings that I see is Obama, but he won't be ready until 2012.
Then the Dems will screw up and put Hillary as he running mate, and they will lose. He will try again in 2016, but with a male runnimg mate, and maybe win.

I think what we've learned in this last election is that the majority of Americans don't agree with Hollywood actors and pornographers on GFY...even if the president is considered one of the worst ever.Originally posted by baddog
exactly . . .I was going to say that earlier . . . and no, go to the inner city, or the south and ask a black man if things have changed that much since then.
So for people to think that we could just throw a woman up there in 3 1/2 years and all will be right with the world is just too fantastic at this point and time.
There is a growing group of people out there who are tired of porn on the net..or their kid's access to it.
Penis enlargement spams in their emails.
Shock jocks paying off people to fuck in churches for a contest..etc..etc...etc.
And I can't say that I disagree with them to a degree.
We can have free speech...but we can also be responsible.
But that's another issue...my main point is that you and I both know that when you get to the south, the deep south those feelings only get stronger. For rent - ICQ 127-027-910

We apparently are that far behind. If you listen to some of the poll numbers, they are really scary! Like how many people believe that voting for Bush will protect us from Iraqi attacks on our soil. Uh... WHAT? Okay, Osama Bin Laden is not an Iraqi nor does he have anything to do with Iraq dammit.Originally posted by Aly-Python
It's so narrow to assume a woman won't be elected... bugs me, because it can become a self-fulfilling prophecy based on fear...

Is America really so damn far behind...? I actually don't think so.
Nevermind.. we're just that dumb.Bush can no more fire Rove than Charlie McCarthy could fire Edgar Bergen.Comment

Colin Powell won't run. He's finished. He's been played by his own party. When things were going bad, they put him out there to tell us the kinds of weapons Saddam had and all the other lies. He was used like a puppet. He knows that. He didn't want to go to Iraq. I'm sure he'll retired after this is all said and done. He probably will retire this coming year so that he's not shamed further belonging to a party whose current policy in Iraq is one that he doesn't agree with.
I wouldn't mind seeing Hillary in the whitehouse. Like others have said, I'm not sure that America is ready for a female President, even though gender wouldn't be an issue for me. Is America "that far behind" as somebody put it. I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is.Comment

She is the brightest but Americans like stupid politicians, so she doesn't stand a chance. Perhaps they should let a monkey run against a republicnan. Only way to win in the red statesOriginally posted by SleazyDream
curious - hillory in 08 -ok, good idea - but WHY are you supporting here?
cause she's a democrate and bright and has made good political decisions in her elected background?
or cause she's a woman and rhumored to be gay?
one's the right reason - one ISN'T the right reason to support the possible leader of the free world.

Which way are things changing though? This President just won an election by the largest margin ever. He ran on an openly faith based "God and Bush = good, everyone else = bad" campaign. There's no question where George stands on religion and the people ate it up.Originally posted by pussyluver

I choose Hillary cos she's got nice hair.
Her short term had to be one of the biggest shams in Canadian history. She only lasted 4 months before she was ousted.
Eros and the others are right, no way a woman would fly as president in the U.S. Having a female prime minister even left a bad taste in most Canadians' mouths.Comment

By the next time a new President is sworn in it will be 44 years before any President from a state other than Ark, GA, TX or SoCal has been President. Bill got elected because he appealed to Southern Democrats and didn't have the elitist liberal label that Kerry and others from the Northeast that the dems keep trying to run have.
They better distance themselves from the michael moore's, alec baldwins and other Hollywood types and start appealing to the avg joe in Nebraska.
