Is AMP really that good of a designer? Or is he a creation of the GFY sheep?

I've been on this board for over 3 years...and there's one thing I've always wondered about....

There's a recent thread where some moron wets himself heaping praise on an AMP design. It turns out to be yet another rehash of the current "design paradigm" for video-driven sites. What's so revolutionary? Was a new site layout pioneered? NO. Were there tons of signups generated as proven by differing posts of webmasters that promoted the site? NO.

I'm not saying he sucks. He obviously knows enough to create a site design and he knows enough to create a smooth looking site. However, this hardly translates to the hype.

What gives? Are people really so idiotic as to equate one's ability to diss other designers and act all confrontational on the boards as a sign of commercial design competence?

The bottomline is regardless of your on board bad ass persona or how many sheep follow you, shouldn't the standard be how much money your stuff makes for your customers.

I'm just pointing out that the emperor may not be exactly naked but the speedos and the adoring throng is quickly getting boring.

Just like your obvious trolling attempts.

*sigh*

Heres your education, if you really are that thick:

Site owner starts thread talking about how good amp's job was on his site so that lots of people look at it and comment because it's no longer yet another piece of program "spam" but a talking point about the design and designer as well as the site and program. This thread is a testament to that.
Mentioning the designer will also guarantee bumps from the designer themselves and is considered good form in that it further advertises the designer's services.

It gets far more interest and affiliates than a generic program announcement especially from a less "famous" program.

It's just good board business dolt.

Maybe that moron really liked the design and wanted to give credit where credit was due. Maybe if there were more people around like that moron that wet himself, then maybe life might be an easier road to travel.

I actually believe I see a hint of jealousy in your post MORON!

well good board business or not i've seen the direct impact on sales that amp's design has helped fuel. I'm not saying it's all amp's doing because the majority of it is the webmasters knowing what traffic works best in what situations.

Let me ask you a question about good though.. When was the last time you were hired to work for Adult.com as a full time designer??

Besides, it's good for the body to wet yourself from time to time.. flushes the bladder out..

Maybe he does excellent work at a reasonable price ... Maybe he delivers his designs on time when promised ... maybe he keeps his clients up-to-date with whats going on ... maybe he makes changes when they request them without too much fuss.

I don't know since I've never worked with him. I just think you need to shut the fuck up!

I looked at his portfolio and it was some of the best stuff I seen...ever!

His creativity is as enigmatic as his personality. I never met him, but i'd like to shake his hand.

I find his designs over elaberate. But I'm sure they grab interest.

Bottom line is the coontent, no matter how good the design is, if the content inside the site is not up to scratch it will lead to charge backs.

No good having a great design and mediocre content.
