They are volcanic rocks +3 which causes 1d6+3 points of damage and erupts the creature that it hits in fire which causes another 1d6 points of damage. Fire-immune characters (drakes, etc.) will not suffer the damage caused by fire (in fact, they will "heal" the damage). Cold-based creatures (polar bears, etc.) will suffer twice the damage caused by the fire.

well, lucky thing i drank a potion of fire resistance (damage from fire is reduced by -2 from each die of damage, and if a savingthrow is applicable, its rolled with a +4 bonus), and wore my +3 elven chain mail..
