anyone heard of 1p.com? SEO guys?

A rep from First Place, 1p.com, gave me a call offering SEO services. I never heard of them. Anyone have any stories, positive or negative? Let me know.

Thanx in advance

PR0, 0 backlinks. Now you wonder with that kind of rep, who exactly are they? Well, do a text based search for 1p.com and you'll find out they are the same people who run Traffic Power. Now do a search for traffic power and you'll see what kind of scam artists they are.

Some info for you:

This company is famous for getting not only themselves banned but their clients.

They changed company names and got theirselves manually banned because google doesn't like those kind of "SEOs".

That was the first reaction I thought of when it was mentioned he was called about SEO. TrafficPower is famous for their direct phone marketing of their SEO stuff. Of course, they're hoping you'll join before you can actually do a background search on their famous spamming and blacklisting techniques.

So many clients have been scammed by them, there's actually a coalition being setup for class-action status against them in court: http://www.trafficpowersucks.com/lawsuit.htm

I don't think Google likes SEO at all, well, that's the impression I got from reading responses to "GoogleGuy".

That's not quite true, they do want to encourage good SEO work from people in order to get the best search results possible. Of course you can't expect people to respect their wishes entirely and some people will abuse the system. The page below explains mostly what Google says to avoid:

The easiest way to indetify a good SEO:

-Ask him if he's written any tools himself

-Ask him what exactly he'll do, SEO isn't rocket sience, just takes time and knowledge.

We won't do anything unethical isn't a good answer.

It's funny, Traffic Power used to call me, too. I guess they're going over their lists and calling under a new company name.

Amazingly, we get these spam emails too:

"Dear google.com,
I visited your website and noticed that you are not listed in most of the major search engines and directories..."

As common as the "cheap logo for your site" spams, but they don't seem to be related to 1p in any way, they want to sell you keyword analysis etc.

Wrong, you can always create high ranks with questionable methods and/or a good amount of money for paid backlinks, stick to the innovators, mostly tool writers too.

Most of them will be very choosy about the site areas they'll optimze for tho because a good SEO can earn more when he does it himself.
