I don't get these kinds of things either but I also use NetScape. I've said it I don't know how many times "you IE
users keep on keeping on".
Talk all the shit you want about Netscape.

I think thehun is 100% right about you people need another browser. This stuff is never going to stop because look
at who makes it
Microsoft and they can not nor can any one else make bug free software. But they could do alot more on security
but they never will until they lost at least 20% of market share.

And they never will loose 20% of market share
with people like you people using there Browser. Hell most of you don't even bother to check the web pages you do
now with Netscape and I know that as fact because I've
visited your page.

My self am going to put up a little message
on my pages and tell the surfer's about what's going on with IE (Microsoft products
and with a link to Netscape.

I use IE for one thing, to check my OWN pages
and THAT's it.

That's all good and well.... but it isn't US that need a new browser. We may be fully aware of what is going on behind the code, but it is the SURFERS, who do not know any better and will continue to use the browsers that are popular. Finding a way to correct THAT problem will go alot farther to solving our webmaster problems than arguing over whether or not Netscrap is better than IE.

Yep, IE has all sorts of security holes-- it's completely riddled--and the latest scams, scumware like Toptext/Surf+, utilize the Browser Helper Object (note the irony in the name) in Internet Explorer for their malicious tactics.

The Hun has just posted an instructive article about it, written by Hypnos: http://www.thehun.net/articles/bhocop/

I think we all should email Ezula. At least it's some action... But don't use your regular reply address. It has been reported on other boards that people have been receiving lots of spam/junk mails efter emailing Ezula. The general assumption is that Ezula is selling these email addresses to spam lists

Lavasoft's Ad-Aware is a nice program. But I fear that mainly advanced user will get it to cleanse their computers from spyware and adware.

Millions of copies of Gator, Kazaa and other "freeware" that installs scumware, have already been downloaded, and the rate is increasing. Almost all these users won't be aware what these programs are doing to their computers, and so they will become targets of Gator's overlaying with its own banners on sites and Ezula's/TopText's insertion of yellow sponsor links in web pages and alteration of already existing hyperlinks.

You know it seems like it's getting harder every day to make money online, and like some one else mentioned, the net seems to be turning into a big shit pit. I hate to be negative, maybe it's time for a vaction..

What I still don't understand is how this can be legal? Every where I read, it is legal because the the surfer knows about it when they install or download the scum ware. But just like this whole thread is about, it's the websites that are getting ripped off, not the surfer. Just like everything I've read from Gator's cheif or what ever, it's the same, "It's legal because the sufer knows", well the surfer is not the one getting the shaft! If top text can change my pages, how can that be legal? I made those pages, they are on my server, my domain, my bandwidth at at my cost and they are servering their ads so they make money, there's no way that can be legal!

Seems like it would be very easy for any big company with the resources to document whats happening and sue the pants off them. Install their scumware, do screen shots and avs's or mpg's of it happening. Am I thinking wrong?

To me it's like a newspaper stand taking all the magazines off their shelves, pasting their own ads over the ones there. Then putting them back on the shelf to sell. Whats the difference? Would the magazines stand for that? I guess it's just a matter of time some one actually goes after them. I would hope it happens and maybe even some ruling or law against any program doing the same crap. Maybe I'm thinking in the clouds..

Not at all. I'll be way surprised if we don't hear about a class action suit against these companies in the near future.

Think about it. A better example than the "magazine" example above would be TV commercials. How long do you think I'd get away with running a program that inserted my own advertising overtop of every commercial during a superbowl? If it were possible (and I think it is), would I be right in saying it's legal because the veiwer knows? Bullshit. It would be theft, plain and simple, and the fuckazoids at gator and ezula know it.

Big lawsuit, big big lawsuit, and why? Because some fuckers are just plain greedy with no fucking morals or a sense of fair play.

I might be a step closer the who's behind the consoles on certain websites. Might be time to close down this guy's server. I need to know for sure it's the guy thoug.

I got a report today from someone that said http://209.132.212.42/logurl/loadURL....html/650904:M loaded every time he visited my page

209.132.212.42 is owned by
National Telemedia Corporation in Calabasas, California.

The 'title' of the page in the console is wet4free.com. But I think they're using an affiliate program at wet4free. How do I get on phone with someone that runs the affiliate programs there? The account these fuckers have with greatplugin.com was already removed. Although I think greatplugin now prospers off this scam, 'cause the link appears to be still working...

In the source of http://209.132.212.42/ there's a whole bunch of links to affiliate programs that might be used to generate money from this scam

I know some of the big sites (including mine) are attacked by these people. A very simple piece of JavaScript (caught before on my page by some people ;-) can easily take care of their server. That means a console will pop up, but won't load. Still annoying, but if the program doesn't result in any traffic they won't make any money while they still have bills to pay. In the end I'm sure the big sites will have the longest breath.

I think it's time to dig up the old battle ax and do some screwing with their server...

But is there anybody that knows more about National Telemedia Corporation (before we start nailing the wrong people)

National Telemedia Corporation in Calabasas, California i believe is CyberErotica.
So i wouldnot recommend screwing with them. They are way too big.

Guys I wonder what is wrong with you?

Don't you believe that these companies double checked it 10 times to assure that it is legal what they are doing?

So even if it is not the nicest thing I still think that if it is legal it is ok.

Just because a guy like the hun doesn't like what's going on he still has no right to attack their servers or threaten their business in any way.

Well ... I can't wait until the hun strikes his ax and they strike back with their attourney and a BIG lawsuit.

However I can't see the problem with such type of software if users are able to deinstall it at any time and that webmasters are able to add their URLs in a blocking list or however you call that and the ad proggie doesn't do its work on that specific site. I know for sure one company who is that honest.

It is just another way of advertisement and in my oppinion the hun harmed this industry too much to complain about such things.

Programs such as Toptext do not allow website owners to block out domains.

It has not been proven legal, nor has it been proven illegal.

That is why the IAB is most likely going to take Gator court. There isn't a set precedent for exactly what these programs do. The only thing close is ad/popup-blockers programs which were never taken to court.

Once it goes to court, it will most certainly be declared illegal. Such practices are not allowed in print media or television media and would already had gone to court and lost. Because the internet is the medium, it takes longer to get things done.

These companies are going to be so drowned in law suit, I doubt they'll have the time or resources to sue anyone themselves.

Hold on, hold on... If this company is Cybererotica then I'm pretty sure they're not behind this. Same thing with greatplugin.com (the 'hotlink' on my site is commented out, it never was active). That's why I posted the info on this IP-address.

The people that run this crap software are popping up consoles with affiliate programs. I'm sure CyberErotica will find out and they might stop payment on 'em. I'll give 'em a call later today to see what they can do about this.

There seems to be a little bit of confusion regarding our involvement in this.

This company signed up with us for a dialer at Telcoweb.com on the 16th of August. The affilate ID he received was was 15066. This software popped up greatplugin.com in certain instances in replacement of other adult web pages using this same ID. This account had done 10 calls before it was brought to our attention by the Hun. We immediately deactivated the account and passed on the details to our Lawyer who is now dealing with this.

No Adware or any other type of software is bundled with our dialer. This affiliate sent the stolen webtraffic he obtained with his software to our domain greatplugin.com. He never got paid for his efforts and it is now in the hands of our attorney

Any questions please contact me.

Elisha

Exactly... CyberErotica is not doing this... that page is using an affiliate code. CyberErotica doesn't need to use affiliate codes for their own program. Find who 's acct # that is and you find your perp.
