What is an "error" in baseball?

Sorry I don't understand the term they use. What makes an "error" in baseball?

In baseball, an error is the act, in the judgment of the official scorer, of a fielder misplaying a ball in a manner that allows a batter or runner to reach one or more additional bases, on a play that would normally be completed successfully with ordinary effort. It normally does not count as a hit and the batter will not be credited for any RBIs (if runs are scored) - unless, in the scorer's judgement, the batter would have reached first base safely but one or more of the additional base(s) reached was the result of the fielder's mistake - in that case the play will be scored both as a hit (for whatever number of bases the fielders should have limited the batter to) and an error.

ok,. now a strike is when a player swings the bat to try and hit the ball, but doesnt. or it goes foul. or they dont swing and its the ball passes through an invisible plane called the strike zone. ehh nevermind, just go play pong.

I need to know, are you a baseball fan that actually owns a copy of the rule book, or did you do a google?

Yankees in 2005

Fan since 1968, loved them when they were in last place. I didn't hop on any wagon.

PS: Bosox up 2-0 in the 4th.

No that's the case. If it was catchable and not then it's an E.
He said "should catch".

**exeption** If you had the f--king umps that all of a sudden decided to meet and discuss plays after they were already called, like in the Yankee-Bosox series. Next you'll have instant reply. Don't change the fucking game. Umpire mistakes were part of the it!
