have you sort of 'forgotten' how the real world works?

i've been doing this for so many years now, i simply can't imagine having to work a normal job ever again. i don't think i'd last more than a week. i really can't imagine it.

but it also makes me wonder how things would have turned out had i taken a different path in life.

and you?

I knew I wasn't cut out for a job from the time I was a kid. I quit my last job in 1998 to open an appliance store with a fellow employee and haven't looked back since. Getting a job today would be impossible and I did try for 3 days in 1999.

The only time I work is during the Christmas season at the post office. It helps keep me in perspective. It's a hard three weeks I tell ya.

But if you look at it in a different light, now that you don't have to work, you could probably get jobs that you previously couldn't get just because your attitude changed. A person looks for and interviews for a job a whole lot different when he NEEDS that job. If you couldn't give a fuck if you got the job or not, you'd be more relaxed, give better interviews and would probably get the job.

It's the getting up every day that I wouldn't be able to stand. I only woke up less than an hour ago.

I was in the working world for a couple years before I started in adult. I seemed to have a problem with being treated like a little bitch to statisfy the corp. agenda, so I never actually kept a job.
Bounced back and forth for a couple years, then found what I am good at and enjoy doing

Back in 2000 I attempted to find an outside job. Was offered a very nice telecommunications sales job with good salary. Then they informed me of their dress policy, time off request forms, and sign in/out papers and I said NO WAY!!! I do not think I would last 5 hrs in a normal office setting.

I probably could do another job.. In fact I'm sure I could, but nothing that I enjoy this much and gives me this much flexibility.. I've always been entrepreneurial, so this suits me far better than a 9-5 would anyways.

Havn't had much experience outside the work from home world. I spent 6 months, 3 hrs a day at a mainstream ad agency, which was pretty cool. The only "real" job I've ever had was working for GTS for a brief period of time. I found it VERY difficult to adjust to having to wake up in the am lol.

i just started being self employed full time this year. i would never last the rest of my life working for someone. i always had a problem telling my bosses how i really felt. i would never let a boss get an attitude with me for $8 an hour when i was working.

i miss being out all the time though and the social interaction.

that's the only thing I miss. I wish I lived near a resort or something where I could hustle tourists. What would be nice is to live in the Caribbean and get an easy job at the Atlantis or something. I'd do it for free. Just let me get the tips and the opportunity to sell the tourists shit (pussy, weed, etc.)

and you?

What is so different about this job than any other job?

Even though I am self employed, I still have to come to the office and perform my daily duties.

If anything, I think there is more pressure being self employed because you have more responsibilities. You are responsible for making decisions that have a positive effect on your business. Make to many wrong decisions and you could be jeopardizing your income as well as your employees.

hmm, let me think:

- making hundreds of thousands a month with adult, becoming a millionaire several times over, and work less each year. tough to do that working a 9-5 job
- can sleep in till whenever i want
- can travel anywhere i want, as long as i have a high speed connection
- did i mention the money?
- i gave up an office back in 2001. though i definitely miss it, as it was nice to be able to separate work from your personal life (at least a little bit).
- being in 100% control of what you are doing

and the list goes on and on.

I agree with you....can't do that or have that with a 9-5 job.

I could never go back to the "real world" politics of an office.

Same thing here. If I don't make it as a webmaster or a writer, I'll be a perennial welfare recipient. The world outside these walls just isn't for me.
