My dad died of one at 58 at his office in NYC. His assistant said he was sitting there working and just fell face forward into his desk.

The paramedics revived him, but it was 7:30 AM with NYC traffic it took forever to get over to Bellevue and then he had another one when they got him there and that was it. End of story.

Its still is hard to deal with not getting to say goodbye and just going out so suddenly.

I just found out that a guy I know had a heart attack a couple of years ago when he walked in on his gf cheating with another guy. He actually collapsed on the floor of their bedroom and the (now ex) gf had to call 911 with the new guy still there.

Apparantly he has a genetic heart disorder that did not surface until then... The shock and stressed caused a trigger and he was in the hospital for almost a month.

I hope the bitch felt guilty

I hope that's the way I die. One massive cardiac. It's better than laying around in a hospital wasting away for years. I don't think there is any easy way out of this life for most of us.

Yeah, if you've ever spent time working in a hospital this is the conclusion you'll come to. It's disgusting what you see in there. The people in their barely resemble human beings anymore. Can't eat, can't talk, can't walk, in pain, bed ridden, sores and sickness, coughing, body fluids running wild, tubes coming out of every orifice.

Just to clarify, he's doing great now... This happened about 2 years ago, he recovered, and hasn't had one since (although he takes medication for it).

I'm with you....I think besides drawn-out torture (or being hung/crucified/etc...), one of the worst ways to die would be drowning

I'd rather just be shot and be done with it (if its a nice clean one-shot kill)

i used to work in a hospital as a food prep guy during highschool. then later on i worked as a porter during the summer of my 1st year in university. plus, my mom's a nurse. i completely agree with you, hospitals are terrible places.

and my recent stay in one myself a couple of weeks ago has only confirmed just how much i'd hate living in one.

Good luck. There's a lot of natural supplements you can take for your arteries to keep them healthy.

Also an 80mg bayer aspirin daily is recommended once you hit your late 30's and early 40's.

Hospitals in Canada are as bad as the US?

I thought the health care system was better up your way.

An older guy we had hired as a legal writer just dropped dead from one about a year back. A friend of mine went over to pick up some papers at his apartment and the guy just fell over on his bed dead then and there and that was it...

With all the stress I am under recently I am beginning to become concerned about this....Taking the fish oil every day now.

Another quick and painless(?) way to go would be to have something large fall on you from a tall building . . . like a piano.

The worst would be if the piano somehow only crushed your legs or something and you were left wide-awake to feel and enjoy everything.

We had a city council member who was walking downtown and was hit by a chunk of brick or cement falling off of a tall building. It somehow only crushed his leg. He lived, but he lost his leg.
And he sued!

Yeah that would suck if something missed and you don't die form it...then you are worse off than when you started.

You could always set off a grenade right on your lap...pretty sure it'll explode hard enough you won't survive with your body half-burned or something.

Are you a fan of vinegar?? I've read it has some great benefits towards helping blocked arteries, lowering chances of heart diseases, eliminating fatigue (some guy won a nobel prize for proving this) etc etc.....

Yeah... and from what I've read the Vitamin C + Lysine combo is like draino for your arteries.

It doesn't take a two time nobel prize winning genius to figure out that an industry making 100's of billions per year would do whatever they could to keep information like this away from the masses.

I use a lot of vinegar in salads. Also a glass of wine each day is great for the arteries. Cabernet Savignon is supposed to have the most potentcy.

In Montreal I used to always add vinegar to things like Poutines and people would laugh....but damn it was tasty and as it turns out the vinegar could atleast help with some of the poutine's negatives

I'm thinking to open a small Poutine place here in the mall, to try and make it popular...they love fries and they love cheese, so its not much of a long shot. That way I can make my gf take care of it too....

Only have like 10 types of poutines and some drinks. Easy and cheap to run =)

Has anyone here had a heart attack?

yep, 10 days in the hospital. 15 years ago in my 30s.

The experience varies depending on what type of heart attack you've have. My symptoms seamed a-typical to me at the time, but now I know.

I called the ER (was late) and the stupid nurse I talked to should have urged me to come in. The symptoms were classic. The earlier the treatment, the less damage.

I gotta say, if I had those symptoms, I wouldn't have thought I had a heart attack

There are plenty of web sites that desccibe all the possible symptoms, suggest all here study them!!! Plus get regulay checkups. I see my doctor every three to four months.

Well, if that helps someone

The big issues I think was the tightness in the jaw and pain in the center of the upper back.

Other symptoms include chest pain (obvious)

If your left arm falls asleep and feels like 100 lbs, that could also be a sign.

One problem is you can't go off to the ER for every ache and pain... So it's a little freaky. I go by the three sympton rule. Three symptoms and I'm off to the ER or on the phone to the Doctor's office. OR one major symptom, like sharp pain the chest.

Had a couple of false alarms at the ER. Think most do that after they've had a heart attack.

I hope I'll never be able to give a "yes" response to this question.

I thought I was having a heart attack once and walked across the street to the pharmacy and the pharmacist ran to get some asprin and told me to chew it and swallow it.

I went to the hospital and it turned out it was a joint or something in my chest that was causing my chest to pound like that.

But now I know if you have a heart attack, grab some asprin and chew it and swallow it

My dad had one about 6 years ago.. he was shoveling rocks and gravle out of our driveway and kpet saying he had heartburn for several days...they had to give him a quadruple bypass.

My gramma has had several heart attacks. and my granpa had a stroke 5 years ago.. he was wasting away after that and refused to do physical therapy...he finally passed away last year.

High blood pressure and heart attacks run on both sides of my family.
