win2k pro runs for days, even weeks unless you mess too much

with win98 and win me , i would have to reboot 4-5 times/day at least.

I run windows98SE here.. on a PIII-450 Machine. Nothing really powerful, but it's well setup.

I have used the computer for days without rebooting, but usually I shut it down when I go to bed.

Take care,

Bruno

with the exception of having my system crash about 2 weeks ago. I never rebooted. I'm a hardcore Windows 2K Pro user.

Son of Rage get Win2KPro. I highly recommend it. Say hi to your dad for me.

I built this particular machine back in Dec 2000. And now that you mention it, I should probably reboot it.

Well, Lane, that depends on which OS he runs. In Win 95/98/Me it really doesnt matter if you got 128 RAM or 256. I run Win2K with 256RAM and to be honest there isnt a huge difference from when I had 128, so I dont know. What he proberbly need is to reinstall the computer...

well actually it depends on how you like to use your computer..
if you run 20 windows at the same time (like i do) then the memory is a big concern...

but i tested this the last summer
celeron 400 with 64mb ram was waaaayyy faster than p3 550 with 32mb ram
both running win98

i think it depends on how your OS installs.
my older comp with windows 98 ran up to 3 months at a time with out rebooting and i allways have 10 different programs open. then i had to reformat and it wont make it 3 days before i have to do a hard shutdown
