How often do you reboot...

I am having to reboot my PC everyday now
sometimes more than once.. It's a fairly
new HP 900mhz with 128 ram.. windows me

It either gets really slow or locks up altogether..

Lane 08-24-2001 03:49 PM

windows me sux
win2k pro runs for days, even weeks unless you mess too much

with win98 and win me , i would have to reboot 4-5 times/day at least.

Once a day..at least, somtiemes two...same problem here.

830mhz 150 or so of RAM Windows 98

Lane 08-24-2001 03:50 PM

and get more ram

it's soooo cheap!!

if you double your ram memory, it makes a bigger difference than doubling your cpu speed

RK 08-24-2001 03:56 PM

Until it crashes or an upgrade needs to be done, so about every 1/2 year.

I run windows98SE here.. on a PIII-450 Machine. Nothing really powerful, but it's well setup.

I have used the computer for days without rebooting, but usually I shut it down when I go to bed.

Take care,

Bruno

with the exception of having my system crash about 2 weeks ago. I never rebooted. I'm a hardcore Windows 2K Pro user.

Son of Rage get Win2KPro. I highly recommend it. Say hi to your dad for me.

Well, Lane, that depends on which OS he runs. In Win 95/98/Me it really doesnt matter if you got 128 RAM or 256. I run Win2K with 256RAM and to be honest there isnt a huge difference from when I had 128, so I dont know. What he proberbly need is to reinstall the computer...

well actually it depends on how you like to use your computer..
if you run 20 windows at the same time (like i do) then the memory is a big concern...

but i tested this the last summer
celeron 400 with 64mb ram was waaaayyy faster than p3 550 with 32mb ram
both running win98

X37375787 08-25-2001 08:54 AM

Did anyone know that Win98 has serious trouble with 512+MB RAM concerning BSODs ?

Ouch... Linux rules your ass !

Mac OS 10 with a Unix core. I havn't re-booted yet.

McPornGuy 08-25-2001 11:18 AM

i think it depends on how your OS installs.
my older comp with windows 98 ran up to 3 months at a time with out rebooting and i allways have 10 different programs open. then i had to reformat and it wont make it 3 days before i have to do a hard shutdown

How do you like MOS 10 ? I was actually thinking about getting a Mac a while ago, just because of MOS 10!

But hey, a Mac is still a Mac is a Mac... http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

Blondy 08-25-2001 12:05 PM

I reboot 5 or 6 times a day and I use 98 http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

Reboot as much as needed, there is no big thing about rebooting. Only tech geeks care about that kind of stuff. They like the fact they have not left there work stations in weeks or month's

No big deal other than when you are working on something important, and the fucking stupid piece of shit Winblows ME decides to lock up.

kandi 08-26-2001 08:08 PM
