A man-eating lion linked to the deaths of at least 35 people in southern Tanzania may have killed because it had toothache, wildlife experts believe. They say the lion probably switched from hunting buffalo to humans because it found the meat less painful to chew. The lion stalked its prey in eight villages in the coastal Rufiji River district over a period of 20 months.
