My Broken heart!

Today, was a very sad day! I had to put down my beautiful dog, Casey. She was starting to have serious behavioral problems. It was heart wrenching...But I'm strong I held her little paw until she left us.

Please say a little prayer for our beloved Casey!

I sit and try to write the words, I want your heart to hear.
Hoping to find some comfort, in the fact that your not here.
I look out into the open field, that you once occupied,
Knowing now that field is empty, because my love, you've died.
I do believe with all my heart, that your soul has gone to be,
With all the other angel dogs, that you were meant to see.
We will have to stay behind, until God calls us too,
So do not be afraid, that he's only called for you.
The water is still, in the pond that you played,
And your bed is so empty, where your pretty head laid.
Our bed is to empty, where you once laid between,
the two people who LOVED you and now only dream,
That one day our eyes will shut one last time,
and you will come greet us, angel of mine.
Until then, I'll keep trying to see through my tears,
with memories you left us, to reflect through the years.
We'll never forget one minute we spent,
of loving and laughing, of places we went.
And I dread the day that your scent disappears,
for it's "proof" to me, Casey, that you were just here!
But one day will come, when we'll start to see through,
the pain of the moment, and remember just "you".
Now you go and play, and look down when you can,
remembering we love you, and this isn't the end.

She was very jealous of my son (18 months), and was becoming agressive and unpredictable!

Are you fucking kidding me????

I'm sorry, but this type of shit pisses me off... My wife is a Veterinary Technician... I have had to listen to past sob stories about how someone was going on christmas vacation and they didnt want to board poor fluffy so they euthenized the animal...

Your animal should be thought of like your child... Are you going to Euthenize your kid when he gets into his first fight at school??

I understand you probably feel pretty fucked up at this point.. I would too... Live and learn... Please don't get any more animals....

Worth being posted again.
There are other alternatives out there besides the SPCA, but death shouldn't be one of them. There are people out there who don't have young children who would love a sweet and loyal companion.
Although... these are just words in the wind. It's a little late now.

Yep me and all the dog training sites that you neglected to look at before you killed of your dog. Be sure and read my favorite part about getting a campanion dog for kids. At least youre not alone in your stupidity. 80,000,000 dogs each year are killed in pounds and humane societies because they developed "behavior problems
http://www.dogscouts.com/responsibleowners.shtml

Heres the last sentence you really should pay attention too.

If you're not prepared to train your dog to be a well-mannered member off the family, then perhaps you should get the kids a stuffed dog, instead. They don't require much effort to maintain.

I gave you more credit. I thought you could handle a hamster.

Sadly, many people look at their pets as more of an object than a member of the family. There is some sort of dis-connect happening and no matter how much you try to educate people that dis-connect will still exist in a large percentage of the poplulation.

Our dog is a surrendered animal, police served papers in order to obtain the animal.. My wife stayed after hours treating the dog for marijuana overdose, and potentially some heroine..

Tela, was about 1 when we got her almost a year ago.. She had behavioral problems, We spent 10 weeks in animal behavioral modification classes.. She is turning into a wonderful dog, I love giving her high-5's and making her say "I love you" in dog speak..

Indeed! I can't lie, I did have my doubts..

But things are heading in the right direction. I just have to be patient.. She is an Blue Heeler, very nice.. only things about her that I still do not like are:

She loves to find and roll in cat shit.. So we have to always hop in the shower with her..

She would bark at me when I show affection to my wife (only seldom now though) I think the person who owned her before might have been a wife beater.. because she can get very protective and bark if anyone in the house yells even to get a drink or something like that.. but she is still building her comfort level...

But still she's a great dog.. And she brings my wife alot of happieness.

There are dogs and cats who do have to be put down and it's not because of inconvenience.

My friends had a dog who was as sweet as sweet could be, until he would get this crazy look in his eye and attack people for no reason.

Nothing worked...and believe me, they tried......and are so sad that this was the only outcome.

If you've never been through it.....where nothing works...not doggie prozac or mood elevators or training or psychology...you just run out of alternatives....I have five dogs....and I supported their decision. Every time the door bell rang, these people lived in fear that their dog would attack, because it was intermittent. They tried everything to fix the problem. Even the vet supported the decision to euthanise....

I'm surprised to see these reactions....I really am.

There is a major difference between trying to exhaust all options like above and just giving up on the animal..

I could see if the animal had some sort of distemperish issue that the animal would need to be put down.. But jealousy issues can be easily solved by relocating the animal...

Again I feel bad for her that she had to have this happen to her companion.. We all have our opinions, and thats what makes a free society so great....

Media, that's great! I think that a lot of people don't realize just how much care and patience pets require. They often expect them to be self-sufficient and self-contained. When I was volunteering at the SPCA, I was amazed to find out how many people bring their pets in for surrender "because they shed". Are they fucking kidding me? My mouth literally dropped open when I heard that!

Pets can be a lot of work. I currently have fish, fiddler crabs, and 4 cats (although 2 of those, we just rescued from a parking lot at the casino 2 weeks ago, and they are waiting to find their new homes), and they can keep me pretty busy, but they are all worth it! I had a blue heeler many years ago. He was the sweetest little dog, but he was also pretty possessive about his people. I think that may be in their nature. He was a collector too. One day I looked under my house and found gloves, hats, stuffed animals, toys, even a pan & lid, that he had collected and stashed in his "secret" hiding spot. Heelers are awesome!

I couldn't care less about your negative feed backs there more to this story than your puny brains could handle I own 2 other dogs and I have dedicated many years rescuing dogs....Wait a minute Why the fuck am I justifying myself, Evil Chris and I made the absolute right decision and may our beautiful Casey rest in peace!

Thanks to everyone for the warm wishes...My ICQ is flooded, warms my heart!

Raven consider the source of the comments! You're a sweetie and classy! Something lots of folks around here could use. We also tried for over a year with Casey and after seeking professional advice we made this difficult decision. Thank God I got my two other dogs to help me through!

So now if somebody makes a negative comment, that makes them a loser? You're just scoring points all over, aren't you?

Oh, and btw, RIP Casey!

No, let me SPELL it out for you Missy it's just plain cruel and immature and improper to make mean comments without knowing the full story! I lost my dog that I adored more than anything. Can people not realize that this is something that we have been trying to remedy for over a year. My bad to assume some people can think that much and reason! No need to score points, I know where I stand

Oh yeah, and I actually put Casey down for attention tonight! Cuz really I have no friends and I am an ATTENTION WHORE! Hehehehehe!

sorry you had to put the dog down . . . . but pray for it? Are you kidding? Do you think it will go to doggie heaven or something?

I would be more inclined to pray for you to have strength in your time of grief/need . . . but to pray for a dog? I don't think so.

I divorced my ex-wife for the very same thing . . . putting her down would have been cheaper though.
