Could it be that the cat is sick due to captivity. I dont think 3 generations is enough. Even a dog that is well trained will growl at the owner over food sometimes.

i've read your posts stating its a special breed, but its still is no "real" pet and you might get trouble with the kitty. its cute and all, but for me such breeds don't belong in homes. sorry if you didn't get my point and start laughing and yelling cuz YOU didn't get it.

I have PixieBobs which are also part bobcat. My first came from the originator of the breed who happens to live a couple of hours from me. She had one litter of 6 kittens of which I ended up keeping 4. Her mother was half bobcat (called a Legend Cat), so she less than 3 generations removed. None of these cats act feral in any way.

Anywhooo.. my main reason for posting is the raw meat thing. When I got Maura, the breeder was emphatic that she and any kittens she must have be fed raw chicken legs every day and offered raw ground turkey, etc. Now... these cats may be part bobcat and thus thought to be a bit feral, but... the chicken and other raw meat that we have to offer them in now way replicates what their bobcat relatives would find for themselves in the wild. Their systems can't handle the problems of digesting raw meat like bobcats can. After almost losing one of mine due to problems enountered from eating raw meat, I talked in depth to the breed originator and several other breeders and found that most have moved away from the raw meat diet.

What they need is a diet high in protein (which can cause kidney problems later on in life) and whole foods. Many cook for their cats...others have moved to some of the holistic cat foods available.

I used a brand called Innova dry for many years, but switched to Wellness about a year ago. My Pixie Bobs are all over 6 years old and thriving.

Mine came from the breed originator in Bellingham WA.

You could start at her website.

http://www.pixie-bob.org/all.htm

there is also
http://www.pixie-bobs.net/
http://www.pixiebobnwh.com/
http://bobcatlegends.freeservers.com/kittens.htm
http://www.pixie-bob.net/
http://www.rockytopcattery.com/

They can range anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand (breeder or show quality). One of my boys could have gone for $2000 but I couldn't bear to part with him.
