If I Own An Exact Movie Title .com ...

What things should i consider before trying to sell it to the Studio? Anyone have any previous experiences with this ? I was thinking perhaps the best route is to just hold onto it and make $ off of the type in traffic for as long as i can (Until they sue me for the name?).

I've really no experience with this kind of thing so any input would be great. Also, same question for Trademark domains.

Thx

Did you register it before or after the movie name was made public by the company?

I definately would not contact them trying to sell it, if you had registered it after the fact. Thats just crazy.

What about trademark stuff ?

Does a company like MSN own rights to all domains that contain "msn" ? Like MsnOwns.com - MsnNews.com etc ...

DO NOT OFFER TO SELL IT TO THEM.

If they contact you,

"The domain name is not for sale but I MIGHT CONSIDER any reasonable offer made". Do NOT offer it for sale, do not use auto-optimizing PPC.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.

PS: Up to $100,000 per domain compensation (for cybersquatting) in the US AFAIK.

Don't know about MSN, but I heard about AOL suing everyone who had AIM or AOL in their domain.

Seriously dude I would just park the page and try and make some revenue on it. You will not be able to sell it to the studio...

They'll most likely tell you that they'll sue you if you don't hand it over.

Get happy with the type in traffic (forward to the amazon movie page with your affiliate code).

They can claim rights to donuts.com if they choose to. Should they win via whichever course they take, is another thing.

MSN is pretty general, so a company SHOULD be able to use it as " Master's of Science in Nursing" SHOULD be able to use msn.com, should they happen to own it.

They very well could be interested, but don't initiate anything, and agreeing that you will sell the domain name can, and prob will be held against you.
