Yes it was awesome, I had it on while working on some scripts and was like, cool Jon Stewart will be on, this should be good. Then he actually talked COMMON SENSE and it was awesome. Felt like cheering.

A bit later in the day, Al Franken owned a piece of CNN as well in the form of Wolf Blitzer. He blasted them fairly well for not following some real news but instead following the Cheney daughters lesbianism mention by Kerry.
Franken called him out for not talking about the basic FACT that they were totally overblowing something, while the real issues are swept aside. It was also awesome. |

Hmmm I don't think John Stewart was really able to express himself because they kept cutting his off. I'm not familar enough with the show to really know what he was accusing them of. Also, I think he lost the crowd when he was talking about "spin alley" What was his beef exactly ?

I was laughing so hard I about fell off the chair. Stewart did indeed catch them off guard. They looked like Nixon in the 1960 debates! ![]()

Comedians tend to be some of the most insightful political people because of the way they view things.

Nice to see a smart guy make supposedly smart guys look stupid. The problem with most political interview programs is they rely on the politicians appearing more than audiences watching. Be too tough on the guests, not let them spew out their propoganda and they will not appear. The interviewer needs to be of such a stature thet politicians dare not refuse the invertation. Unfortunately in the US the media, being owned by large corperations, controls what you see and who you see and most of the media has a vested interest in who gets elected. In the UK we have the BBC, they are funded by the public and are more independant of the goverment. We use to have an political interviewer, Robin Day who when he retired was replaced by Jeremy Paxman. Both were clearly more intelligent than most of the politicians and very often more clued up than them on the subject. They ask pointed questions and did not take waffle for an answer, they sometimes had politicians get up and walk out on them rather than stay and be grilled. They were both big enough for no politician to refuse an interview. |

yeah, the marketing was great. And if you ever watched crossfire, you should agree that what Jon said about them was the truth. They are just part of the problem, not of the solution
