Will you watch the anti-Kerry Sinclair film set to broadcast

before Nov 2?

http://money.cnn.com/2004/10/11/news...ex.htm?cnn=yes

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Sinclair Broadcast Group, owner of the largest chain of television stations in the nation, plans to air a documentary that accuses Sen. John Kerry of betraying American prisoners during the Vietnam War, a newspaper reported Monday.

The network has ordered all 62 of its stations to air "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal" without commercials in prime-time next week, the Washington Post said, just two weeks before the Nov. 2 election.

Sinclair's television group, which includes affiliates of all the major networks, reaches nearly a quarter of all U.S. television households, according to the company's Web site. But the affiliates owned by the major television networks reach a larger percentage of U.S. homes because they are in the largest markets.

No commercials, sounds like a political ad. I wonder if Kerry is entitled to equal time.

If it's on a channel I get I'll watch it. I listen to both sides of the news bias, no reason to not watch both sides of "documentaries".

No. Likely lawsuit is you ask me. Doesn't sound as if they are chalking it as "equal campaign time."

Just makes me curious, the F9-11 crowd said they would not see the Moore film and that it wasn't right, just wanted to see how many of them will butter the popcorn for this.

This is a blatant move.

"Sinclair's plan to air anti-Kerry propaganda before the election is an abuse of the public airwaves for what appears to be partisan political purposes," Media Matters CEO David Brock said in the letter.

Sad. During the 70's, Nixon would have done anything to be able to question Kerry's record, but it was flawless. Now it's 30 years later, people are a little more stupid, and they're able to do it based on absolutely no credible evidence. Nixon must be laughing in hell right now, but I think all this is just going to backfire for Rove. They're getting too desperate.

I would have to imagine there will be more info on this before it airs. I know in California they couldn't air any arnold movies during the campaign becase then they would have to give all the other candidates equal free time on the TV. I think that rule may vary state to state and if this is seen as a free two hour pro-bush thing he may have to then give Kerry the same amount of time.

One thing is for sure. Kerry's lawyers are shitting themselves right now and are working overtime.

even though I'm an ex-bush voter, who is fully decided on giving it to Kerry this time...I will watch it for the same reason...

they're both politicians and I'm certain have both fucked up at times...

I'll be curious to watch and see how damaging it 'could' be to the fence-sitter crowd....let's hope not much or that peopel just 'miss it'

Somebody needs to remind the American people that the Vietnam War was a mistake, and if people like Kerry has not returned from Vietnam and informed the public about the reality there then tens-of-thousands more kids might have died in that disaster.

I think it's safe to say at this point and time very few people are going to be swayed no matter what from how they're currently voting and the undecided will probably be that way until they walk into the voting booth.

people in general are idiots, and can barely remember major events that happened last month let alone decades ago....

Yep, people are idiots.
Today there was Bush on tv saying how the stock market was headed down 6 months before he took office, and the crowd broke into applause... unreal.

Makes you wonder if those same people realise it was Bush's own people that estimated the government surplus at over 3 trillion dollars in february after he took office.

And also theres the recent article where Kerry said something like "we want to get back to where terroism isn't dominating our lives and get it back to where it's a nuisance". The republican spin machine quotes it so you think Kerry said "Terrorism is just a nuisance". And idiots eat it up and repeat it back as if it's true, lol.

If there was a forest fire and you said you wanted to get it down to where it's a nuisance instead of a disaster, would you believe someone who said that what you meant was that forest fires are a mere nuisance? doh.
But.. people are idiots. Especially the "50IQ Springer Crowd" as I call em.

Defineatly- that can't be legal- F911 was something you volentarily paid for and saw on your own time in a movie theater- if they put this on broadcast TV, then they should air F911 durring the same time slot on another network.

Which do you think people will watch? A movie about something that happened 30+ years ago, or a movie about something that is happening now?

whats sad is that the way this world is, pretty much the majority will believe anything they see in the media. Not all but majority.

Doesn't precious freedom of speech apply to everyone? Sinclair group is a corporation, or legal entity if you will. They can play whatever they like, and you can turn your television off if you like. Nobody can force them to ever air F911, nor should they be able to.

You're suggesting that people will be forced to watch this. You can voluntarily turn off your television. Perhaps what's saddest about this situation is that the American public can't turn off it's television!

John Kerry was offered the opportunity to respond following it and declined. Can't blame him, obviously.

Freedom of speech is fine if your not breaking FEC regulations:

John Kerry was offered the chance to appear right after the "documentary" to deliver a rebuttle. His campaign declined the request. Can't say I blame him. I think this covers "equal time" though.

equal time is fine, but regulations state (in a shortened form of it) that you can not show anything that will reach 50,000 or more that is anti either candidate within 30 days of elections.

Are there not still commercials running on televison? I saw CNN just yesterday show parts of political ads on a show.

If it really is illegal, I'm sure the Democrats will send their legal representatives to GFY to get the dirt on it.

becasue the networks are required to sell ad time to each candidate in an elevtion. The problem is this is being shown uncontested with out any other material.
