BREAKING NEWS: Christopher Reeve has died

Read about it at Drudge, CNN and Fox.

CBS and ABC have not reported the information yet.

It appears to be confirmed.

I know you all can read, but offer this as anlternative thread to another thread.

A loss to America and a loss to the world

I grew up watching super man (a differnt actor of course) . I am sadened by the event, even if he was "just" an actor. Actually he was more than that. He gave people hope.

Here I was really hoping through stem cell research Christopher Reeves would walk again.

I have to hope with his death, this will be another issue brought on the front burner and set on HIGH with the U.S. elections.

Actually, he's done a lot in the way of getting spinal chord research some attention. Without celebs like him spiriting the cause, they often fall by the wayside when it comes to funding.

Yes he gave a LOT more than providing entertainment as Superman during his life and will have helped thousands with his push for getting spinal chord/stem cell research developed sooner rather than later.

I grew up watching George Reeves too as the original superman.. that was Christopher's father .. they say he commited suicide, but others say he was murdered. I really liked that guy.

My husband met Christopher Reeves at Killington Ski resort a long time ago, before his accident.. he was sitting at a bar alone, so he sat down and started talking to him, then asked him for his autograph. Christopher said no very rudely.. that he didn't give out autographs, then turned around and ignored him..

He probably was tired of being recognized.. who knows
