Quite a few people earn that, many people earn more... 5k could be attributed to 167 4free signups per day. Assuming a 0.01% CTR and 1:10 signup rate, you'd only need 167,000 daily visitors - which you can be up to in a week if you post GOOD galleries.

On the other hand, if you don't fancy a huge bandwidth bill, then I know another way

I'll give you little clue.Stay away from TGP.
No lately I wasnt making 5 000 a month,due
not working too much.two years ago I was making 10 000 a month(without single TGP hit)
But build one nice clean site a day. With warning page main page and about 20, 30 pics.
Submit it to green guy, tommys bookmarks
and everywhere you can(not TGP)Much better traffic and it dont die that quickly. And you will save on bandwith bill.
Just build it,submit it and forget about it.
and build new one

Don't believe anyone's self-assessment of how much they make. First, it's probably gross, not net. Secondly, there's not much incentive to be truthful. Thirdly, some guys just can't resist spinning a yarn.

However, the way some of my customers write checks tells me they do have money and are not scraping by at all.

It takes time to make a site payoff. My own pay site is making more than three times as much this year as it did the same time last year.

Do you blame people for joking about this topic and just making shit up? That fact that someone even asks this questions is unbelievable. Do you walk around during the day asking people how much they make? Or do you walk into a computer store and say "Hey I was thinkin of doing something like this, so how much you make?". The guy would tell you to nicely fuck off and not come back. Where did peoples manners go around here?

For starters, to find out who someone is on this board, ie there name and info is far from hard. Secondly so many people wouldnt be in the business if it didnt make us money. How much money you make depends on how well you learn and how hard you work.

So besides asking a personal question, it was a stupid question.

wow.. and you have such great manners.. you must be... A SAINT.... i'm sure if you talk to anyone that actually spent some time with me discussing this.. you'll understand that I am, unlike your ideas of me, quite honest and very respective of others... its a shame you lambast without thinking... it just proves your character. I hope you aren't so vicious with everyone here. Have a great day up there in Canada......

A Saint? Of course I am

After reading my posts I realized that maybe I didnt have the best manners. But I still believe that your question was out of line. It seems like everyday someone comes in here asking if they can make money at it and wondering what everyone else makes. When it is none of their business (I guess I am a conservative after all).
Well of course you can make money at it, you can make money at pretty much anything, depends on how hard you want to work at it.

And yes, I will have a good day up here.

i was a bit jumpy on this as well.. been a long day again.. apologies from down south.

i wasn't hoping for any real figures just some nods yes or no. I've been running a pay site for about 2 years now.. and am really frustrated with the whole thing.. but i think i'm too much of an artist to grasp all the marketting techniques. I've been working my ass off but it's been a one man show and without the right tools or skills i'm just floundering around in a see of images.

I can understand how it can get frustrating at times when trying to make a site profitable.

Have you tried partnering with someone who is skiled in the sales/marketing aspect of websites. I know that it can be tough to give up some of your company to someone else, but it might be a good idea.

As well what about a webmaster affiliate program, hundreds of webmasters can do a lot more work then just 1 owner

Something else I just thought of, if you have an original design and images, then maybe you could hook on with some of the larger programs out there. Silvercash is always adding new sites, and if you have a niche that they dont already offer, you could possibly partner up with them.

Just some thoughts for you. Good luck with the site.

Straight question....straight answer....

When we started out, our first pay site earned us $8.00.
We thought we rocked. LOL.

We've been in this biz three years now, working very long hours.

We've made mistakes and learned from them.

And, we do this full time, all four of us.
we are earning enough now to buy cigs and eat. Two years ago, we weren't eating.

Read everything you can. Visit the resource sites. Ask questions. Don't put your eggs in one basket.

Get someone to analyse your site. Pay for it if you have to. Two years is a long time for a pay site to be up and not earning money.

We are making more than 5000 a month, supporting two families and an awful lot of dogs.

It's a hard business, but, judging by the amount of people in it, it would have to be profitable or we wouldn't be here.

Get yourself to conferences and learn to network. There are workshops available all year long. They are invaluable.

Get Red and Titmowse to write you stories.
Hire us to work on your text for your site.
Make sure you personalise your site. Have good customer support. Use more than one billing company. Target your traffic. Check your spelling. Read about keywords and other meta tags to get placement on search engines.
Use link lists for traffic and link popularity.

There are ways to make money in this biz...but, it surely is not an overnight thing.

Email me if you have other questions.

Chrome is a mannerly guy, normally. Even to a fault. I think he knew the answer to the question even as he asked it (some people do very well, some are struggling, and some will never make it at all). Probably more of an expression of frustration than anything else.

I started out selling nudie pics through the mail 7 or 8 years ago. I'd jump for joy at the occasional $25 sale. If I got a sale of, say, $75 or $150, it was "Happy days are here again!" I'm sure a lot of you know that feeling.

Today, I make a decent living, made all the more decent by eschewing the expenses related to car ownership. If I owned one, I'd be considerably less prosperous what with payments, insurance, gasoline, and upkeep. A car is just a whole in the road you throw money into. Of course, not everyone lives at a transportation hub the way I do (one end of Portland's free bus mall, next to the Amtrak and Greyhound stations). A bike is all I need 99.9% of the time.

My pay site is earning me several times more per month this year than last. My last half-monthly check from my membership processor was about $850 (my rent for the whole month is considerably less than that). I have two other sources of income: my booklets (http://www.afterglow-photo.com/booklets.htm) and my content site (http://www.unseenworld.com). Between these three sources of income, I keep very busy and I make a decent living.
