If I was to tour Europe....

Where are some good places to visit, party, and relax? Been planning a trip forever now, and i know some live there, or have been there - any suggestions would be good

Thats fucking bullshit...
Just because most here don't agree with your gouvernment, doesn't mean we don't like Americans..

If you'd tour Europe. Visit The Netherlands (Amsterdam!) and don't forget to Prague! That city ROCKS!

I just got back from Bulgaria, and it was extremely interesting. My wife is from there though, and we own property there. But, as my first time there, I can say that it was a wonderful country and worth the visit if you know people.

Prague, ansterdam, Madrid, Kiev, Florence, Ibiza.

Give London a miss. I lived for 4 years in the UK. London is great, if you don't mind, bad weather, bad food, expensive prices, and ugly unhappy people.

why are they unhappy? And ugly? Yes, it's often said about british people, but I can't really imagine they are really less beautiful (apart from the complexion) than other nationalities

I went through europe a few times. I won't go back to any cities in France and Germany, I never have a good time in them. Funniest for me are Madrid & Amsterdam. I usually have a good time in Italy cities too, but they aren't good for partying.

I enjoyed all of Italy especially Venice and Rome!
Germany- I loved all of it! The food there is amazing!
In France; monaco! The people there were very nice!
Great Britain nice & expensive.

Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria & Denmark are beautiful countries!
Belgium was nice, but Luxemburg I didn't like how the people there were towards us!
I went to Pland & Czech which were very cheap at the time...good for shopping...

I think almost every country in Europe has something good to offer, food, wine, culture, people, history, and party places!

I drove around Europe for a month+ 2 years ago.

If you love Cognac and are looking good food and great atmosphear. Cognac, France is the place to go.
Lots of grat B&B's/small hotels that have amazing food and an atmosphere that will blow you away. Screw going to the big Cognac distillers, go to the smaller Cognac farmers instead. They will treat you very well

Btw, every bigger city in France I visited were horrible. The people there were not very friendly. But as soon as you got out to smaller places, the people were very friendly even if I didn't know a word in French

some of the best restaurants in the world are in london, and you can get any nationality of food you want. the food is shit if you live out of burger bars.

as far as the women go, there's plenty of hot women, you're either not looking in the right places or scaring them away when you get near.

london gets a bad press, but it's got more history, culture and things to do than almost any other city in the world, that's why half of hollywood buy homes there. the weather is bad a lot of the time agreed but about the same as somewhere like amsterdam or paris.

Sorry, I'm not meaning to run it down. I lived there for 4 years, so I do have something to base my opinion on.

As far as food goes....the Indian and Thai is absolutely outstanding, but what passes for 5 star dining in London is not up to par with other places IMHO. As far as hot women go, there are some, granted, but as a percentage, compared to a lot of other places with similar populations, again I have to say that the pickings are pretty slim. (and I don't scare women away...:-) )

And, frankly, the entire experience is all tainted by the price. A $2,000 night out in London won't get you half of the amazing food, nightclubs, and beautiful women that the same amount will get you in NY, LA, Miami, Hong Kong, or half of the cities in the EU.

This is just my

no problem i was a little defensive. but just a quick FYYI as far as the food goes here's the top 50 restaurants in the world 2004 (according to restaurant magazine)

The Fat Duck, Bray, Berkshire, UK
El Bulli, Montjoi, Spain
L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Rue de Montalembert, Paris
Pierre Gagnaire, Rue Balzac, Paris
Guy Savoy, Rue Troyon, Paris
Nobu, Park Lane, London
Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Royal Hospital Road, London
Michel Bras, Laguiole, France
Louis XV, Monaco
Gramercy Tavern, New York
Daniel, New York
Tetsuya's, Sydney
Hakkasan, London
The Waterside Inn, Bray
St. John, London
L'Ami Louis, Paris
Jean Georges, New York
Le Gavroche, London
Flower Drum, Melbourne
The Merchant House, Ludlow
Arzak, San Sebastian, Spain
Dal Pescatore, Canneto sull'Oglio, Italy
The Ivy, London
Arpege, Paris
El Raco de Can Fabes, San Celoni, Spain
Schwarzwaldstube, Baiersbronn, Germany
The Cliff, Barbados
Rockpool, Sydney
Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons, Oxford
Al Mahara, Burj Al Arab, Dubai
Charlie Trotter, Chicago
Le Jardin des Sens, Montpellier
The Square, London
Spago, Los Angeles
Bukhara, India
Chez Panisse, California
Le Meurice, Paris
Trois Gros, Roanne, France
Balthazar, New York
River Cafe, London
La Tupina, Bordeaux
Auberge d'Ill, Illhauseern-Alsace
Craft, New York
Le Tour d'Argent, Paris
La Maison de Marc Veyrat, Annecy, France
Felix, Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong
De Karmeliet, Bruges
The Wolseley, London
Gambero Rosso, San Vincenzo

that's 13 out of the top 50 restaurants in the world in the UK and of those 13, 12 are in london or a short drive outside of it. that's abot the same as paris and new york together. but i admit london is relatively expensive.

there's parts of london where the women are rough as hell generally, but that's inner cities for you. i'm guessing the same could be said of some of the ghetts in new york. but i don't live in london so i don't care ;)

As long as you are not with a group you are ok. In fact if you travel with only one other person or by yourself people tend to engage you. They will tell you your government is fucked up but treat you with complete respect.

Hamburg, Berlin or Munich are a must too. People in bigger cities are used to americans and will help you and party with you. Its easy to get to know the bavarian people for example when you drink beer with them. The wine season starts now so there are a lot of wine-fests al over the place. Those are defintately a MUST! You will never see so many happy people again

It's funny in Bulgaria, I found everyone to be extremely interested in the States. I would just tell them the truth.

We pay an assload more for not much... And our current President is a joke.

Amazing, I got along with so many people...

They are happy and you will never see them drunk and fighting! They share, smile, laugh...with Americans!

There are over 5,000 types of beers in Germany!

Good wine is all over!

If you can get to their Christams market try Glueh- spiced hot wine!

Do try and pick a nice time of year, or you stand to get cold and damp!

My #1 recommendations: Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Paris, London.... and surrounding areas. Oh god... then there's the south of France and Italy.. You need a few trips I think!
