If I was to tour Europe....

Where are some good places to visit, party, and relax? Been planning a trip forever now, and i know some live there, or have been there - any suggestions would be good

Fake Nick 10-08-2004 06:17 AM

as long as you realise you are not welcome in europe when travelling

you wont meet people from other nationalities , they wont want to talk with you becasue you are from america

I dont know about all that, I have friends (real friends, not internet buddies) in bulgaria, italy, and finland, and they all say that the people are receptive towards americans. Im looking for real answers - dont be a dick

Toured Norway a few years back (by train boat and bus, not to mention backpacking through the mountains). Defanitly a beautiful place, though the bed and breakfast i stayed at in stavanger was run by a creepy ass lady, it was a blast.

Sexy Rex 10-08-2004 06:49 AM

Paris and London are a must imho. And please forgot what u saw on Fox news, French people DO like americans.

mikexod 10-08-2004 06:51 AM

CostaBrava in Spain. Been there 7 years ago, and from all the countries in Europe this is the place to party (as long as you are planning summer trip).

Thats fucking bullshit...
Just because most here don't agree with your gouvernment, doesn't mean we don't like Americans..

If you'd tour Europe. Visit The Netherlands (Amsterdam!) and don't forget to Prague! That city ROCKS!

macho 10-08-2004 07:22 AM

Amstredam is very good place for parties and for relaxing:) :winkwink:

RyanL 10-08-2004 07:34 AM

Prague / Brno

:thumbsup

I just got back from Bulgaria, and it was extremely interesting. My wife is from there though, and we own property there. But, as my first time there, I can say that it was a wonderful country and worth the visit if you know people.

Sexzity 10-08-2004 08:23 AM

Prague is a very nice city :)

pimplink 10-08-2004 08:27 AM

Italy is particularly popular amongst americans. And there's a reason - it rocks!

sperbonzo 10-08-2004 08:28 AM

Prague, ansterdam, Madrid, Kiev, Florence, Ibiza.

Give London a miss. I lived for 4 years in the UK. London is great, if you don't mind, bad weather, bad food, expensive prices, and ugly unhappy people.

why are they unhappy? And ugly? Yes, it's often said about british people, but I can't really imagine they are really less beautiful (apart from the complexion) than other nationalities

I stayed in London for a few days of my trip, and hes right.

Expensive, and just not much eye candy. London was fun for a day, but jesus...

MaDalton 10-08-2004 09:27 AM

Hamburg, Berlin, Prague, Budapest, London, Paris :thumbsup

shimmy 10-08-2004 09:33 AM

I went through europe a few times. I won't go back to any cities in France and Germany, I never have a good time in them. Funniest for me are Madrid & Amsterdam. I usually have a good time in Italy cities too, but they aren't good for partying.

Nanda 10-08-2004 09:41 AM

I enjoyed all of Italy especially Venice and Rome!
Germany- I loved all of it! The food there is amazing!
In France; monaco! The people there were very nice!
Great Britain nice & expensive.

Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria & Denmark are beautiful countries!
Belgium was nice, but Luxemburg I didn't like how the people there were towards us!
I went to Pland & Czech which were very cheap at the time...good for shopping...

I think almost every country in Europe has something good to offer, food, wine, culture, people, history, and party places!:thumbsup

swedguy 10-08-2004 09:47 AM

I drove around Europe for a month+ 2 years ago.

If you love Cognac and are looking good food and great atmosphear. Cognac, France is the place to go.
Lots of grat B&B's/small hotels that have amazing food and an atmosphere that will blow you away. Screw going to the big Cognac distillers, go to the smaller Cognac farmers instead. They will treat you very well :thumbsup

Btw, every bigger city in France I visited were horrible. The people there were not very friendly. But as soon as you got out to smaller places, the people were very friendly even if I didn't know a word in French :)

some of the best restaurants in the world are in london, and you can get any nationality of food you want. the food is shit if you live out of burger bars.

as far as the women go, there's plenty of hot women, you're either not looking in the right places or scaring them away when you get near.

london gets a bad press, but it's got more history, culture and things to do than almost any other city in the world, that's why half of hollywood buy homes there. the weather is bad a lot of the time agreed but about the same as somewhere like amsterdam or paris.

Explicit 10-08-2004 10:25 AM

Thanks for all the suggestions - i will look into them all, and see where I'll be able to get to.

Thanks a bunch,
Explicit :)

Sorry, I'm not meaning to run it down. I lived there for 4 years, so I do have something to base my opinion on.

As far as food goes....the Indian and Thai is absolutely outstanding, but what passes for 5 star dining in London is not up to par with other places IMHO. As far as hot women go, there are some, granted, but as a percentage, compared to a lot of other places with similar populations, again I have to say that the pickings are pretty slim. (and I don't scare women away...:-) )

And, frankly, the entire experience is all tainted by the price. A $2,000 night out in London won't get you half of the amazing food, nightclubs, and beautiful women that the same amount will get you in NY, LA, Miami, Hong Kong, or half of the cities in the EU.

This is just my:2 cents:

The Wolseley, London
Gambero Rosso, San Vincenzo

that's 13 out of the top 50 restaurants in the world in the UK and of those 13, 12 are in london or a short drive outside of it. that's abot the same as paris and new york together. but i admit london is relatively expensive.

there's parts of london where the women are rough as hell generally, but that's inner cities for you. i'm guessing the same could be said of some of the ghetts in new york. but i don't live in london so i don't care ;)

As long as you are not with a group you are ok. In fact if you travel with only one other person or by yourself people tend to engage you. They will tell you your government is fucked up but treat you with complete respect.

Manowar 10-08-2004 11:31 AM

London - Amsterdam - Berlin

Scherfi 10-08-2004 11:41 AM

Hamburg, Berlin or Munich are a must too. People in bigger cities are used to americans and will help you and party with you. Its easy to get to know the bavarian people for example when you drink beer with them. The wine season starts now so there are a lot of wine-fests al over the place. Those are defintately a MUST! You will never see so many happy people again :winkwink:

BoNgHiTtA 10-08-2004 12:19 PM

It's funny in Bulgaria, I found everyone to be extremely interested in the States. I would just tell them the truth.

We pay an assload more for not much... And our current President is a joke.

Amazing, I got along with so many people...

They are happy and you will never see them drunk and fighting! They share, smile, laugh...with Americans!

There are over 5,000 types of beers in Germany!:thumbsup

Good wine is all over!

If you can get to their Christams market try Glueh- spiced hot wine!

loverboy 10-08-2004 01:01 PM

just here to check on some nice places to visit also. me and my bro are planning for a month long trip and next and would be useful if i can get some few tips on what's HOT in Europe nowadays.

Paparazzi 10-08-2004 01:22 PM

Paris & Venice :thumbsup
Also visit Sweden if you want to party with hot girls :glugglug

Scherfi 10-08-2004 01:29 PM

actually most germans like americans (except the administration) very much.

Gynecologist 10-08-2004 01:35 PM

Just do what all the little communistic punks do when they travel to Europe: Tell them you think America sucks.

Aly-Python 10-08-2004 01:40 PM

Do try and pick a nice time of year, or you stand to get cold and damp!

My #1 recommendations: Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Paris, London.... and surrounding areas. Oh god... then there's the south of France and Italy.. You need a few trips I think! :winkwink:
