LOL funny stuff man. Honestly I would have never caught it otherwise...I would have just gone on thinking you pulled it out of somewhere else.

LOL well everyone calls me Eros...even some of my closer friends in this biz still call me Eros.

I don't see how the morons on this board represent the industry as a whole?

Everyone thinks I am greek whenever I am a n00b to an online community and they start asking me about greek food and recipes and shit. It's actually quite comical.

Ok, but whose fault is that? Who is going to be responsible for changing this?

Well let's not pretend as though it's not happening on all levels from noobies to "industry leaders."

I can't imagine any other industry having the kind of on board pissing matches this industry has so openly on GFY and other boards.

Maybe I'm wrong...maybe working for professional companies for many years has skewed my view on how things should be handled...but I just can't imagine CEO's of million dollar companies going on a message board calling a client a scammer...or vice versa.

I guess my point being that if sponsors wouldn't pay people to act inappropriately on this board *in terms of sigs* then others wouldn't see this as a means to some extra income and increase the level of drama in order to stand out amongst the rest of the tards.

I will agree there is way too much BS on this board now days. I add to it, same as I've seen you add to it. But I think that's why this board became so popular, it's more of a place to screw off.

I think the sigs are one of the main reasons this board has gone down hill. This board is just like any other adult website, it makes money for the owner. So really there is no reason for him to change anything as it would likely make the member base smaller.

Same thing for the other boards that pay per post and so on, that kind of stuff dose nothing but attract the wrong people. I've only sold my sig the last three months but I figure what the hell, I can make enough off my sig to almost pay my server bill, so why not, pluss it's a good program. Personally even tough I have a pay per post sig I haven't really posted more than I used to with out it.

Do you ever check out the "Webmaster Q & Fuckin' A" section? there is a lot less BS and more business like posts. You might not pull the same replies and page views in that section, but I think you will find better quality posts in there.

Who fault is it?

All of ours. We all became complacent, certainly over the last four years at least. As more and more people got asked 'how much are you making' more and more people bullshitted the question askers with replies of, 10k, 15k, 50k a month.

As for who will be responsible for changing it? Again, All of us must be. Unless we actively go about setting a change in progress now, the adult industry will only start to fall deeper and deeper into the pit it has already slid into.

Anyone remember when boards were for business and not bullshit? Anyone remember when webmasters used to offer other webmasters help for nothing in return? I would hazard a guess that less than 10% of the regular posters on GFY can remember those days.

Now it seems all everyone [for the most part] wants is quicker and cheaper ways of doing things, despite what many think, free hosted galleries, and higher payouts are killing the adult industry, why do you think so many companies are broadening their horizons and looking to sever their adult ties and move solely into mainstream?

Of course, after 3 years of the adult industry successfully migrating across to mainstream, the same thing will happen there and then, where will we go?

Regards,

Lee

Good post Crockett.

For some reason I don't know why..but I always forget about all those other forums on every board I visit...I usually just hit the main ones..but I will definitely look into it.

I completely agree with you. The only people that are responsible for making this industry what it is are the people that are involved right now. All these fucks creating spyware programs that rip off affiliates (among many other things) are giving the industry as a whole a bad name. It is up to us to change that "image"

Hopefully their will be a law for the scumware.I swear each day I have to remove 100 instances of that shit every day.

Easton 10-03-2004 08:56 PM

here's an idea... no sigs for anyone unless they are promoting a GFY advertiser... and no pay-per-impression or pay-per-post deals allowed... simple enough

will it happen? of course not...

Tom_PMs 10-03-2004 08:57 PM

I'm a real poster and I post real answers or contributions. Unless I'm posting a joke and then it's obvious.
Been around since only 1999 or so, but only joined here because I was tired of just reading it.

Anyway, Soul has a nice point. I'd put it as: you are what you eat ;)

This whole statement here says it all. I totally agree with every part of it. In mainstream alone, their online communities are from from childish as adult's. I am slowly leaving adult, coming back here and there. The industry is good, but its better somewhere else.

One thing this industry lacks a lot of is professionalism.

codymc12 10-03-2004 09:15 PM

Mona and I have been around long enough to remember when Ynot was the only board to post on. There was plenty of 'pissing' there - but it was on a different level.

What bothers me the most on GFY isn't the pissing - it's the level of degradation that gets posted so much. Such as when the U.S. guy got his head cut off, and someone posted a pic of his friends and family, thought one of the females in the pic was hot, and asked if anyone would 'hit it.'

Someone on the outside coming to this board would assume that all of the stereotypes of the industry are true.

I rarely post for this reason. While GFY is definately a place to find things or get the word out on a new product, it's degnerated into an unprofessional cesspool, where your post count apparently measures your credibility.

I agree in theory, but I'm afraid I don't think that's possible on GFY. The group has spoken up more than once - including those who are 'respected' - and made it clear that they prefer the anarchy and drama.

I don't care about the so-called "respected" webmasters of this board. there is no "I" in team.

Sure - I don't, you don't - but the 1000s of trolls and surfers who make posting a profession do. Serious webmasters are overwhelmed by numbers - a losing battle. IMO.

What you said sums up how I feel about this board too..

I don't mind the nonsense posts as much as I do the unbelieveably cruel and tasteless ones.

But... being the business person I am, I overlook all the garbage and get what I want out of the board.

And one other thing that even has ME puzzled a little is..... this is the only board I actually read. The rest of them I visit through hahahahahahahahahahahaha for promotion purposes. I'm not a moron or someone that has too much time on her hands..... so I guess I'll think on that one ....

I use the board when I'm looking for resources, such as traffic ops, etc. It's also useful in terms of locating reviews re: hosting, and so on. Brushing aside all the B.S., if someone is ripping people off or providing bad service - it'll be posted about on GFY.

So it's DEFINATELY useful in that regard.

But I'll also go months never touching this board after it gets hit by an avalanche of posts that hit new lows.

When I start feeling like I'm rubbing up against the worst in humanity - I take a long break and come back later. Unfortunately, this has happened on more than one occassion.

exactly.. just the other day.. someone posted an 18 yr old model, and explained that her mother had brought her in to pose, and how sad that was.

The comments made in that thread by other posters made me feel sick to my stomach.. I left the board for a few days after that one..

you know... one of the problems with troll control is the attention they receive.. which is just what they want..

we only have ourselves to blame for that.. if we stop paying attention to them there's no way they can get what they want here
