Gouda - ik ben a kaas hoofd...hehehe Den Haag - For the Peace Palace (where some of the flames on these BBS should go to get sorted out) Terscelling - biking around the island Vlissingen - for watching the boats |

Hahah, that thing really is a waste of money! I hate that crap. Somewhere on the beach they also have/had some kinda tubes and if a wave hits the things in a certain way the water should spurt out of the top of those things. I believe in all the years that ugly so called art object has been there it only happened once. What a fucking waste of money. Summer is great in Vlissingen, really nice, beach, water, bars, tourists but in the winter its pretty dead. And yeah the boats are nice.

Was there many times in 1964 thru 1966,
for you young people that was know as the free love days, although I did not get very much free love in Adam. As to shopping, Window Shopping is the only shopping I did. As to Museum's, had NO time for them, to busy Window Shopping on Canal Street. Oh yes we smoked bug back in the dark ages also, and if I went back today, the 1st place I'd hit would be Canal Street. on the way to Almere, I passed a small herd of concrete elephants...
in Almere train station there are huge steel bicycles at the edge of the cycle racks... it's touches like that that make me enjoy being in the Netherlands ![]() ------------------ Where did all the traffic go??? |

hey battuss
great link, thanks for that boy things sure have changed since i was there about 8 years ago a bit off topic...but i think one of the BEST bands in the world was "The Nits" too bad things didn't go there way, cause they would have kicked everyone's ass have most of their albums although it's more difficult to find here in Canada talked with the bass player, Joke, when i was in Den Haag many years ago she was an unbelievable guitarist!!! think she is suffering from a bone disease and only the three other guys are still performing (don't like them as much without Joke) favorite songs - Slip Of The Tongue/In The Dutch Mountains/Dapperstreet/Radio Shoes/Soap Bubble Box/An Eating House/The Bauhaus Chair ![]() |

Just wondering, do most of you drive cars in Amsterdam or walk and take the metro and such? When I was living there we always walked and took public transportation because everything was so close...Just wondering.. |

Rooms are way too expensive here. I'd say about 500 bucks for 2 rooms and a small kitchen and bathroom appartment and thats not downtown! Even if you got enough money to rent a decent room it wont be easy to find one. There are huge waiting lists. If you want a decent appartment downtown and right away you atleast pay 1k. No use for a car, everybody uses public transportation. No parking spaces
I live in the only area (north) of Amsterdam where you dont have to pay for your car parking. |

That's not bad $500 for an apt, here in CA it's around $800 for a studio. And I live in southern CA, I heard its outrageous up north. My dad lives in Amsterdam, close to Central Station and "de Dam" (I think that's what its called, I haven't spoken Dutch in like 10 yrs, so I don't remember much of it) and he pays over $2,000 for a 1 bedroom studio..it's very beautiful though, the ceiling is a framed antique painting, really a piece of art. I like it that everything is so close there and you can walk. No one walks or takes public transportation here unless your a kid or really poor. |

The only bad thing about Holland is the bad weather. It's cloudy and rainy everyday..And the high taxes! |

Ya true, July and august are great months, the rest is winter
![]() And the taxes SUCK BIG TIME! The goverment is totally insane. The more you make the more you pay. I think im somewhere around 45% now. Can you believe that??? 45% of what i make goes to the goverment! Im paying the same taxes as 3 normal households goddamnit! Every night its like WOOHOO i made 8 signups, then i grab to bottle to forget 4 of them go to the state... Now you know why so many people in Holland smoke those funny cigarettes ![]() |

You now guys, it's really good to see all the good responses for amsterdam.
Even the van gogh museum is mentioned! guys great stuff! http://www.vangoghmuseum.nl/bis/top-1-2-6-1.html The pc hooftstraat is a very expensive street for clothing, but very good! Avoiding the central station is wise when you're in amsterdam the first time, but after that, no problem, just mind the pickpockets! Coffeshops are the f%ckin' best! Palm beer is great! And PHogirl?, seriously thinking about moving to amsterdam?, I can provide you with all the info you need, just icq me; 63150336 If you want i'll even check everything out for you! |

Nickbaauw, I'm not moving there anytime soon, perhaps in the future. I never even thought about it at all until I read this post, made me miss Amsterdam! Or I might go on vacation first and see if I still like it. My dad is always buggin' me to come visit anyways...I forgot how to speak Dutch though... Also nervous about the taxes, damn I thought I had it bad here... |
