The debate

Neither one was a shining star...and neither one will get a significant boost in the polls...based upon this debate.

It would have been nice if either candidate had focused on sending a more positive message about the future.

At least Kerry looked confident!

I think Bush came off looking pathetic and nervous; he stammered and misprounounced words, lost track of what he was trying to say, and once even interrupted his opponent, only to discover that he didn't even KNOW what he was going to say.

What I'd really like to hear is what some of the previously undecideds have to say about the debate.

Well...in a few days the polls should show what the undecideds have decided or have not decided. As I stated...I do not believe there will be a significant change in the polls...we will see.

Early polls are showing no significant boost for either of the nominees...thus leaving President Bush still ahead of Kerry.

Early polls are showing that while Sentator Kerry may have won the debate based on style...he did not win the hearts and minds of the voters and their vote...but it is really to soon after the debate to get a really good result from the polling orgs. The next few days of polling may provide a different result...but I doubt it.

calling bullshit here... there is more than enough proof that Kerry won last night

CNN Poll = Total: 456015 votes

President George W. Bush = 21% 97447 votes

Sen. John Kerry = 72% 327333 votes

Evenly matched = 7% 31235 votes

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/...ain/index.html

Not wanting to recognize their own online poll and speak the numbers on air - CNN is now saying, "Kerry won the debate on STYLE but not CONTENT!!!"

Nice way of putting a spin on things implying Bush knew what he was talking about more than Kerry - but Kerry at least looked pretty and spoke well.

You left out the most important part of that particular poll.

Did the debate change many minds? Not according to the poll.
Another tibit from the article.

Quote:
Four years ago, a plurality of debate watchers thought Vice President Al Gore, the Democratic nominee, had done a better job than Bush in the first debate.

But when the dust settled Bush was the one who picked up a few points in the horse race.

Gallup has asked the question about who did a better job in the debate in five previous elections, and in four of them the candidate who "won" the first debate did not win the election in November.

It's all about the spin... no matter who loses, the supporters of that guy will find some way to spin it to make it sound like they didn't really lose, there was a reason that people are voting for the other guy that just doesn't matter some how.

I take all polls with a grain of salt but it will be interesting to see them after the domestic issues debate.
