someone would have had to sit there an manually remove the files/folders or the system could potentially have a virus and could be deleting/renaming files/folders along its war path... you should look into that

Try doing a system restore back to the first date available before the game was installed. Actually, go back a couple of them just in case it didn't happen the same day the game was installed.
