how much does it cost to start a paysite?

We're thinking of starting a paysite.

how much would it cost?

2 options

1) if we took pics by ourselves, how much would it cost, would 15-20 sets be enough to start off with? college teen girls. prob would be girls that have never done it before

2) bought exclusive content

If you have to ask that question, you shouldn't be tinking about starting a paysite.

u need at least 20 sets of anything just to even have a chance . and u wont be just taking pics. if u are doing younger chicks, go lighter on the shoot but more girls . for ex. just do 20 min segment video + 100 pics) charge less, get more..
shit like that

anyway,
you can prob. get college shit ..about 30 sets for $10K (incl. you are doing it all yourself)
advert. cost to get girls
+ filler plugins (200-300month)
server - 200 set up + monthly
plus video process. (hopefully u can do yourself)
video equip - approx 3K if u want any type of Q
plus potential updates..

or u can just buy sets and have same ol same ol

i hope these #'s give u some idea

For the bare minimum with good quality and custom content it would run you about $15K and upwards. There are also designers to pay, billing processors to setup, and $200 server wont cut for too long if you get any kind of decent traffic, but you can pick up a couple of cheap boxes to run your FHG on.

I still have the daggers in me....deep too...So we have been up 5 months. We are a high-end (Suze type) 100% exclusive content paysite with both videos and stills. So the basic calculations are the simple ones..the ones you see coming i.e. server, design, programming, and of course the content you shot. Here's what ya come to find out.....

You need two servers to start (one as host and one as realtime mirror backup)...ya wouldn't want to get those 5,000 members pissed at ya all at once. So double your server fees and add some more programming.

You realize the day ya open your doors what the *content is king but traffic is god* thing everyone has been telling ya means. Instatntly you realize you need promotional tools and an affiliate program. So add another domain, a bunch of banners, another site design, and more programming. (yep, still need to do it even if your Billing co. has an AFF program). Oh, and don't forget about buying traffic since ya have...NONE

Then you learn about hosted galleries and their traffic benefits...yep, your content ya paid to produce, you give out free in galleries you pay to design, update, and host....weekly. ....oh yeah, another server is a good idea, no, actually it's almost mandatory.

And finally there is billing...Since you are new and have no brand 75% of your traffic will be from refferal and you are on a 50/50 recurring so now you are making less than half of your original projections.

Now would I trade it...not a chance. I love what we are doing and all the cool peeps in this industry....I just seems so many folks think it's a simple get rich quick marketplace....I say it takes hardwork, ethics, and dedication just like any other market.....

Well Fuck...that's just my thought....Fuck it!

A very well known and successful person gave me the answer to that question about 5 years ago:

Do to it right? $100,000

To do it wrong? Any amount under that.

Slighty exaggerating - but don't do it unless you have some nice capital behind you.

Yeah, I started most every project I have done for less than that... but the advice is sound nonetheless. You can certainly start slow and build up over time. But, you can make much more sounds business decisions have the capital behind you. My suggestion to anyone would be to carve a niche first - learn that for a few years and then start a paysite.

BTW - That advice was from someone that made 8 figures a year for some years...
