Football season has started! Who will win it all?
Now that the season is under way and the injuries have been coming in like crazy, who are your early season picks to make it to the Super Bowl? We can come back to this thread in Jan and see who was right and wrong! I'll say will be New England vs Philly My sleepers are the jets and dallas. What about you? |

				 | J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets The New York Jets will win Super Bowl XXXIX. Sure, at first this appears to be the biggest homer pick of the century, but don't most accurate Super Bowl picks result from some sort of homerism? Think about it: In the past five Super Bowls, only three Super Bowl-bound teams were expected to make the Super Bowl in the beginning of the year (Tampa Bay and Oakland in 2003, and St. Louis in 2000). Only one of those three actually won a Super Bowl (Tampa Bay 2003). The rest of the Super Bowl winners could've only been picked by fans. However, not making the playoffs does not mean a team will have a better chance at winning a Super Bowl. The purpose of those numbers is to try and discredit all those experts who base their Super Bowl picks mostly on the past season. A team's performance in a previous season is a good source for upcoming predictions, but things change so much between January and September that the past season could only tell so much. Again, those numbers only give some hope to the New York Jets, who finished 6-10 in 2003. The main reason this team can win it all is because of the man taking the snaps. Chad Pennington is one of those players that who can spark a whole team. When Pennington is doing well, the rest of the team does well. There are some quarterbacks who establish their worth in the league by putting up extremely good numbers (i.e. Dan Fouts and Dan Marino), while there are other quarterbacks who have made their name by what's on their finger(s) (i.e. Trent Dilfer and Mark Rypien). Pennington has the potential to make his name by combining both his ability to put up great numbers (66-percent accuracy and a 95.1 quarterback rating) and the ability to just win - in 2002 Pennington led a 1-4 team to the second round of the playoffs. |

				 | I was also asking who will play in the big game? The eagles seem to fail every year late. Will TO change that for them? |

				 | The way I see it, 5 teams have a prayer this year. Colts, Patriots, Eagles, Seahawks, and maybe the Broncos. The Colts are going all the way though, watch that offense, it's the closest thing to perfect the league has EVER seen. |

Don't forget about this guy Freeney is going to be top 3 in the league in sacks this year. They may not be the best, but they're not as bad as they used to be. Don't forget they're playing Dungyball, they have the guy who single handedly put together one of the best D's of all time.

Super Bowl. A good offense can be shut down by a top defense.
