Google and Yahoo Results

what the hell is up with the search engines? their results are all screwed up. there are sites listed in the top 10 of a particular search that has nothing to do with it.

Sadly I would have to agree. Unfortunately after a promising start recently Yahoo is now even worse. If AOL or MS get their act together and get their own versions out of beta/finished it'll be interesting to compare them.

I suppose on the plus side getting traffic from Google really isn't any harder than it used to be. It's picking up nicely at the moment for quite a few of my sites. Just a shame so many of the results are crap when you're looking for stuff. I'd rather have a little spam to wade through than find that 3/4 of the relevant sites can't even be found because a 'filter' has picked them up and knocked them out of the top 100.

Whats wrong is all the people using black hat SEO to give their landers/fpas/no-content pages top rankings for popular keywords. Google needs to be constantly changing their algos or else the first 100 pages of listings for every popular keyword would be nothing but FPAs and spam.
